Okay, so relative to where most of you are, its not that cold, but the temp gauge registered 59 in the water today. I know, you are thinkin' "i wish it was 59 in my lake right now." Sorry about that, but Lyman, Mikey Marsh and I had a fun little sesh today, regardless of having to hold our hands out of the water when the boat comes around. Shaun

Whats up Shaun? I heard somthing about you or youre family buying a lakefront lot on Lake Granbury in Texas. Any truth to that rumor?

Shaun ~ Some people are really going to hate you now, but not anyone from So-Cal. Our water was 58 last Wednesday and it's only getting beter.

59º water temp? Sheesh. I'm suddenly glad I didn't book a February long-weekend at The Boarding School after all!

My friend up in Tallahassee said it was 20 on Monday, and not much warmer yesterday. I laughed at her complaining about 20 because her reaction is what mine is to -40. Although I do sympathize with the temperature being cold, and it just hit -40 here today so maybe I shouldn't have laughed.

I just wish the lakes weren't frozen.

Come up here in April when the water is still 40 and the air is 50. Don't worry about bringing a dry suit we don't use them, so why should you?

Hey Shaun, can I ask how your new closed toe bindings feel in the colder water? Is there any difference as far as keeping your feet warm?
Old     (driving)      Join Date: Jan 2003       02-16-2006, 4:48 AM Reply
The water was just over 70 last week. We just had a couple or really cold nights(below freezing a couple nights in a row). But, it is going to be 80 for the next 5 days, so it is sure to warm up quickly. That is one of the benefits of having water that is only 8 feet deep.

Glad to hear it will be warming up... The Midwest Militia is invading Orlando for 4 days next weekend! woot woot

just rode today and it was up in the upper 60's already.
Kerri and I did get some property on granbury as well as my parents. really nice place. not sure what we're gonna do with it though.
Closed toed bindings...so nice in the cold water. put it this way, when you take your feet out at the end of the set, your feet are cold once they come out of the bindings. The inner sock is neoprene, like little booties for your feet.

Shouldn't Shaun be required to post riding pics every time he posts. Just a thought.

I agree with the riding pics...it's only fair for those of us that still see ice when they look out over any body of water! I'd die for 59 degrees right about now...it would feel like a bath :-) I'm envious, that's for sure! maybe i should come down to a camp there...anybody recommend any good camps? ;-)....kidding

It's not really a shameless plug, if you look above I did ask. Besides, he is getting paid for it. I'm just hoping they don't make the sub 50 degree water in March & April feel quite as cold on my feet.

I would love to put some pics on. only problem is that i don't take pics when i ride. if i could, i could get paid double! travis and i got a nice camera for the camp, but if i'm riding, he's driving and the students generally have their own camera's they are shooting with. will work on it though. sorry about the plug earlier......

Shaun, your getting old and soft with cold water. I rember when you would come ride with cobe and I out here in cali. You would use a full suite and I would use a drysuit and you would give me poo for it.

We gotta keep this banter up, I think Shaun is getting addicted to the website. It was 80 in Ft. Lauderdale, too bad I was stuck inside with Biochem notes.

Hey Shaun,

How's your knee doing? When your dad posted some details on the injury sometime back, it sounded all messed up. How long did it take you get back on the water? Have you gone W2W on the wakeskate since?

Shaun- Jerod said he talked to you on myspace yester day... My mouth is still on fire from the hot sauce!!! Did you ever call Steve on the RV??? Give me a call this week on the cell about that deal and the other things we talked about.

Take it easy...

You've got to be kidding. We would kill for 59 degree water. Low 15 degree air sat night, rode sunday with a high 47 degrees. Water was 41 degrees, my feet still haven't thawed yet( why I'm posting at 130 a.m.) The edge of the lake had ICE around it. Need to plan a trip to the camp next year about this time, your conditions sound much better. The northwest got a pretty good cold snap this last week. Best part about the cold though, only had to share the flat calm lake with one other boat of riders as nuts as us.
