Two part question.

I’m currently riding a 03’ 140 Absolute and thinking about moving up to a lager board. The wake on my Moomba is fair, so my question is will larger boards have more pop on medium size wakes then a smaller board?

Demo isn’t really an option so from what I have read, the two boards I’m most considering are the CWB Transcend 142 and the HL 3DS 143. I have read that the 3DS rides long? Any comparison or information is appreciated.

Thanks in advance, E

I rode the 3DS 143 this weekend for the first time and didn't care too much for it. I usually like continuous rockers for the added speed they bring. Nevertheless, the 3DS was the slowest continuous rocker that I've ridden. I felt like it sat too low in the water. Unfortunately, I haven't ridden the Transcend, so I can't offer any input there.

Peace be the journey!

This one is totaly up for debate and I'm sure some people will call me out for this, but......

I actually think smaller boards ride up the wake and pop better. I think it has something to do with the shape of the board riding up the wake instead of pushing through it. A lot of what I'm saying has to do with the rocker line of the board and the shape of the boats wake/trough. I think the effect may be less drastic on smaller wakes or on really large rampy wakes, but on my boat (X2, dumped properly), a smaller board seems to pop better.

Now, that said, I choose to ride a larger board because I think the edging and landing are more to my liking. I think if you were talking a huge difference in board size it will have more of an effect on pop, but I was refering to a 138 vs. a 142. The 138 just felt snappier.

Alright, what does everyone else think????

oh yeah, I also say demo as many boards as you can because what everyone else thinks is very subjective.

I think there is some truth the what Evan is suggesting. I think if you took a long continuous board and laid it against a big, steep wake, you would find that the radius of the wake from trough to lip would not match the board rocker.

Can someone explain what a board riding long means, I don't understand this reference? I recenlty purchased the 05 3DS 143 and I absolutely love it. I was coming from the 03 Premier 140 with a subtle 3-stage rocker and the 3DS is so much faster than the Premier. I have not ridden many continous rocker boards, but the 3DS is very quick compared the the various 3-stage boards I have ridden. Perhaps it has more to do with my weight (240) than anything, but I felt like I sank the 140 Premier and that the 3DS sits much higher in the water and doesn't have that dragging feeling I had with the Premier.
