I just purchased a MC with a skylon tuna tower on it. I now see some small stress cracks in the gel coat around one of the mounts. Not sure if they just showed up or i missed them when i bought it. How concerned should i be about them? The tower has some metal mounting plates underneath. Should i be adding addtional support? Also should I be towing the boat witht he tower up or down. Tower is pretty securely mounted but i see it move over rough roads and i am concerened.

It could have been from over tightening bolts when it was installed. I would recommend keeping a real close eye on them and measuring how many and how long now. If you see them grow then post back up with some pictures of the base, the cracks and how it is mounted on the underside. That's a good tower and MC's are built like tanks so you should be fine.
