Anyone found any good ballast set ups for when surfing and wakeboard on a ski nautique 2001 did a couple of sets the other day with 1200lbs in and the wake was like hitting a wall

For boarding I always put one 540 in the back, in between the engine and the backseat, or 2 540's, one on either side of the engine. Always had some lead under the bow, I think like 100lbs.
For surfing had the one 540 in the back, and the other on the surfing side. Didn't have a wakeshaper when I had that boat.
With 1200lbs you'd want 400 of that under the bow I'd think, to avoid that wall-like wake.

When I had a 2001 I don't remember exactly what the wieght set up was but I remember putting a sac under the bow. The thing that helped a ton was we had a real-like 6' surf board and that made it possible to surf. There wasn't quite enough push from that little boat to ride a smaller sized wakesurf board. We even had the large hyperlite landlock but that didn't work as good because it seemed it had a lot more drag than the real surf board. Even had a 5'6" broadcast, same thing lots of drag. Later got a CWB tsunami and that board had no friction on the water and was super fast.

We surfed a 4'9" Broadcast no problem behind that boat.

540 bag on either side, 1 540 bag in back, suckgate. PP at 10. short wave. quit trying to make it work, at 185 I cant quite go without rope. Found with the the suckgate the back bag doesnt matter as much, can go almost as well with just the 2 540s and the gate. smaller riders on a bigger board wont have a problem.

For wakeboarding... All my experience with too much front weight on the old nautiques (up to 2006 SAN 210) has been a deep trough and almost a vert wall. The hull shape on the 2001 is not too different from my current boat, 1994 ski nautique. For wakeboarding, I get a very nice wake with 1000 lbs in the back and 600 lbs on each side of the engine, no front weight. I prefer to ride at 60' and 20mph and faster if I add any more weight. If you cannot get your boat to plane, change the prop. Malibu boats are more accommodating to the shape you desire. With nautique, you need less weight because of beam, and your stuck with the steep shape and narrow wake - you just have to find where it is good.

For wakesurfing... back shapes and platform are a little different between the boats, mine works when I get rid of one of the side bags and use my homemade ghetto gate. Sometimes I'll add more in the back when I'm on a deeper lake.

for wake- i put 750 ish behind the motor depending on people and like 400 lbs of steel shot under the nose, weight up front mellows the wake out.

for surf just add a 350 along the motor on the side you want to surf on. the surf wake will always be really short

Cool edit. Very cool actually. Reminds me of my own good ol' days behind the mini-fleet of 2001's that used to roam my lake. Even the wakeboarding itself felt familiar and reminded me of myself and my friends. Great job, thanks for sharing the clip. Bonus props for the music... I used to blast the very Pharcyde tape (from whence that song came from) until the reel wore out. Literally.

^^^^agreed. That video brought back so many good memories. My first boat was an 88 SN2001 about 8 years ago and I did sooo much riding behind that boat. Mostly with a few of my buddies that just loved riding. We didn't care about the cool latest and greatest gizmos and gadgets (mostly because we were all poor) and all the $100k new wakeboats. Landed my first scarecrow behind it. Pretty impressive the wake you can get out of that boat for how small it is. Great riding BTW
