What is the best way to do a cool step-by-step sequence of a wakeboarding trick or MX jump? I have photoshop (an older version) and Aperature and can't figure it out.

I pick the best picture and make it my main one, then add all the others as transparent layers and erase everything but the subject, if the camera is still during the sequence, then its not to difficult

Much like above, but I start with the pic I want at the furthest one back, then place others on top, erasing the majority of them, leaving the rider, and making the background continue panorama style....
Then whe you get it all put together, flatten the image (get rid of all the layers you just made and make it one shot) then you can blur any lines in the background to make it look seamless. This was done in PS7

I use PS CS2. Center image is the background layer. I cut (using the polygon lasso tool) and paste what I want from the other images on to the background layer. After each image is lined up the way I want them I adjust the expose of each layer as needed to match the background (saves tons of time trying to hide your edges) usually + or - .15 or less.

David ~~ Hey that shot is me and I have it going across 2 monitors at work. Great shot and nice work, now I just need the knee to heal so we can get out and shoot again... Not a bad wake for a 02 SANTE with stock weight!

It's pretty easy to do... And you can use MS Paint to do it. MS Paint will get the job done, but Photoshop will give you a lot more options to make it look better.

When using MS Paint, I open all the pictures in the sequence in separate windows. I use the middle pic as the main template for the picture. From there I use the selection tool to copy and paste the other pics to the template by lining up the items in the background. The quality isn't anything to brag about, but it does get the job done. Here's are some examples:
