Just watched him save Alex's life. Crazy mofo was edging in toe side toward the fun box. He would have landed on the fun box and been threwski!. Travis picked up on it quick and killed the throttle. Now I see why he's the preferred driver.

Travis is an amazing driver & I have witnessed many similar saves! You'd think if he knows the rider is going to hit an obstacle that the rider might see the probability and make a new plan!

from what I gather: Kid was edging to the wake giong to do a trick toeside, the landing would have resulted in them smashing into the funbox in mid air/just after landing.... Travis saw this coming, cut the gas and saved a life.

"Kid was edging to the wake giong to do a trick toeside, the landing would have resulted in them smashing into the funbox in mid air" He used to do it at least once a weekend for one of the women (Nicola included) I remember once when he was about to get into the boat to pull the women, he turned at the dock and addressing the ladies "you see those obstacles in the water? you are meant to go over them, not thru them" or words to that effect. Lol.

I can't say enough great things to describe Travis....one of the most awesome person, driver, and coach I have ever had the pleasure to ride with. You can always count on him to do the right thing which he obviously did today (Message edited by rnopr8 on August 16, 2009) (Message edited by rnopr8 on August 16, 2009)

The course wasn't tight at all. That's the point. There was no need for riders to put themselves at risk. There was plenty of room. One of the more wide open stops of the year. I'm sorry if Nicola feels slighted but I always err on the side of caution. I couldn't live with myself if something happened. The riders just need to be a bit more aware.

Good job Travis, I guess it's hard sometimes keeping track of the course & focusing on the trick. I thought he was going toe side wake to fun box transfer. Do riders discuss when they plan on doing something out of the ordinary?

I have had riders talk to me when wanting to do something different, but in his case he was going to run into the side of the box, not jump the wake then hit it. I understand it can be tough keeping track of where you are sometimes, but a little more thought should be put into their runs. You have all day long to look at the course and plan it out there are really no excuses for potentially making a fatal error.

Travis has been and will be the driver at all the tournaments we put on if he is available. He makes people a better rider because of his driving and I have witnessed him "save" so many riders that he should get part of the prizes anytime someone wins. Lastly...one of the challenges any event organizers faces is liability and the possibility of legal issues from putting on an "extreme sport". That said, when our attorney was reviewing our coverage he asked me if I knew what our best "insurance coverage was".....I said I thought it was our policy...and he responded back..no its the guy driving the boat. He's the best in the Industry. Travis you are the best and I'm grateful to you for being a part of the Gravel Tour! Saving riders one at a time for a LONG time!

Good call Travis! Would have done exactly the same thing! What’s a life or disability vs. a contest run? If there is the slightest doubt, it’s just not worth it... Great job mate!

He seems like a really great, genuine, down-to-earth dude. And definitely an amazing driver. You know a tournament is the real deal when they bring Trav in to drive it.

I've said this before but it's worth mentioning again.. Travis is cool and all but his uncle Daniel is my hero. When I was in college he installed a steel plate with 8 screws in my leg after a moby dick gone wrong. I still remember my parents sitting in the doctor's office with me and my mother said something along the lines of "would you please tell him he needs to stop this wakeboarding mess" Dr. Moye basically said that he was the wrong person to be telling me that as he is an avid wakeskater. WHAT NOW MOM. The Moye family - saving lives one day at a time.
