Just wondering what method you guys use on your engine.

Method A:
-Fill bucket full of plumbing antifreeze and let engine suck it up into engine through impeller.

Method B:
-Take out thermostat in housing and pour antifreeze through the block.

Method B is the one listed in the manual for my mercruiser, but I am open to try method A as well. Only thing is I will want to fog my engine as well and it might be a little more trouble to do it while running the antifreeze in through the impeller. What do you think?

Matt, I use the bucket method, going through the hose that connects to the fresh water intake. However, I use Marine/RV antifreeze, so it doesn't contaminate the lake when I start it up next season.

I do what Ryan does.
1. I run two bucketfulls of 50/50 water/RV antifreeze mix.
2. When the second bucket is almost empty, I fog the engine at injectors(throttle body injected) for about 5 seconds, then shut off.
3. I then drain the manifolds, both sides of block and all hoses.

I do the same, except I take the engine drain plugs out first to drain all the water. Then I put plugs back in and suck up RV antifreeze while I'm fogging the engine. I do this to ensure that I get antifreeze in the engine block, not just in the manifolds.

We drain water - hoses/block
anti-freeze through thermostat - then fog

i usually do method B but this year didn't have time. we ran it up to temperature on water (so the thermostat opens), fogged it, changed the oil, drained the block, shower, heater, manifolds and blew air through the system. Then I simply pulled out the OUTLET tube on the impeller housing, lifted it up and poured 2 gallons of marine/rv antifreeze down it. Since the thermostat is open from being hot, the antifreeze goes into the block and....all done.
