i have installed a new stereo system in my boat woo woo! the deck is a kenwood and has a USB insert to hook up the ipod. it does play however...

i can't control the music with my ipod. it goes into charging mode. but still plays the music.

the only way to change songs, playlists etc. is by the deck which is much more difficult. I want to be able to scroll thru like normal.

any ideas?

thanks

In order to do that you will have to pick up an aux in jack then induce signal into it.

Nep is correct. Are you using the IP100 or IP200 for the Ipod? To go aux in if the radio doesn't already have it you will need the CA-C1AUX. If you end up going the aux in route make sure you get this product or something similar.

The audio out of the headphone jack isn't as clean as the docking connector. This piece will also make sure you are charging the Ipod at the same time. This unit will continue to charge the Ipod for 20 minutes after ignition to the unit is turned off.

WQith mine I have to make playlist.
Then my headunit sees eachplaylist as a CD in the changer.
Only catch is you will have to check with Kenwood to see if this will work with yours

Ben,

I'm assuming you know about this unit as there isn't a lot of info on the website...

What connections come with it? I would guess it has RCA out, wiring harness for power, and input for dock side ipod connector? What type of connection is it from ipod to the unit?

This is exactly the reason I now have no Head Unit. I have a peripheral IPod charging/adapter to RCA's straight into my EQ. I had 3 alpine decks stop working last year and this is what prompted me to eliminate it.

Billy - If you are referring to the Peripheral piece then you are correct. Docking connector from Ipod to din cable input on green box. Power ground and ign input harness. RCA output from green box to radio or EQ. I'll see if I can take a picture of one and post it up a little later.

I have just been using a headphone out to rca and I'd like something just like this that uses the docking output and also charges.

Does the ipod cable to green box cable come with, or is it separate? Also, how did you mount it? Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you guys. Here is the pictures of the PXOD (See link above). The cables are all attached to the box internal for reliability. We mount them with zip ties or take the cover off and screw them down from the inside and snap the cover back on. Peripheral is not the only manufacture that makes a product like this but we have had good luck with this model. I hope this helps you out.
