OWC Renovation Session

Share

Orlando Watersports Complex has been one of the longest-running watersports facilities in the U.S. To better keep up with the newer parks popping up left and right with their fancy waterslides and other amenities, Aktion Parks and OWC have decided to fully revamp their Orlando facilities. They started by tearing down their beginner cable. Then they moved the aqua park up to the front side near the pro shop/office. Next they ripped out their old dock and put a nice white sandy beach in instead. Finally, they moved their System 2.0 by the right side of the aqua park and turned it 90 degrees so it runs between the pro shop and the highway.

Now they’re about to begin rebuilding the beginner side, which should, hopefully, be back up in May. Oh, and did I mention they’re also putting in some cool water slides and a rock climbing wall as well? All are located centrally in the front of the park, so it’s all easily accessible.

In the OWC Friends feature below, you can see parts of the construction going on around the place as well as some wake park pros shredding it up on their latest advanced side setup with names like the Harris twins, Jonn Bonet and up and coming Jr. Pro Will Hooker.

WW: What are you most excited about going into the 2022 season?
JB: I’m most excited to travel in June to Lithuania and compete in Redbull WakeDuel.

WW: What kept you going through the offseason?
JB: Just being able to ride year-round and continue training in South Florida is the best. Also, the grom scene growing more and more helps keep me motivated to keep riding and helping the youth of the sport.

WW: What’s new for the Zuupack this year?
JB: We have a website launch we have been working on, including merchandise/content. We also have a grassroots contest series coming up mid-May working in collaboration with three cable parks in South Florida (Revolution, Rixen, MWC).

WW: What helped you guys blow up as much as you did?
JB: Just continuing to push the sport on and off the water, training hard, stacking as much content as possible, visiting as many cable parks as we can, networking and forming great connections within the sport.

WW: Are there any specific Zuupack events that went down or that you’d like to mention to our readers?
JB: We hosted Jungle Jams, a grassroots contest two years running at Miami Watersports complex. We also hosted Jelly Jams, another grassroots contest for the first time at Ski Rixen.

WW: What were the vibes like at them?
JB: Vibes were unreal! The amount of groms down in South Florida eager to keep pushing the sport and progress really surprised us. The parents' support was also very inspiring to see.

WW: How come we’ve been seeing you ride more at OWC lately?
JB: A few months ago I moved to Orlando with my girlfriend, so it has been my home park for a little. I still travel down to Shark Wake in West Palm Beach and Miami Watersports every other weekend to train groms and film Zuupack content when needed.

WW: What are you most excited about with the new OWC renovations?
JB: Definitely most excited for the beach area, which is very nice to just hang out and watch people ride.

WW: Special thanks?
JB: I’d like to thank Norbi for always being down to film some more content of me and being so easy to work with. I’d also like to thank all my sponsors for always keeping me on the water and with the best equipment and apparel.

WW: Sponsors?
JB: Slingshot Wakeboards, Mystic Boarding, BuyWake.com
