May 13-15, 2011 marked the return of the Collegiate Wakeboard National Championships, part of CBS Network's Alt Games, to Mission Bay’s Hidden Anchorage Cove in San Diego, California. 13 Collegiate wakeboarding teams and individual riders took to the water over the three days to crown the collegiate wakeboard champions.
Riders from Chico State, University of Tennessee, University of Florida and a host of other schools vied to take the top spot on the podium for their respective team, as well as individual honors. Each collegiate team is comprised of four male wakeboard riders, two female wakeboard riders and one wakeskater.
In the end, the University of Tenesee tallied 570 points narrowly beating out defending 2010 Collegiate Wakeboard National Champions Chico State with 540 points. The University of Florida rounded out the podium with 360 points.
Individual honors for the Men's class went to Dan Walden from the University of Tennessee for first place, Ryan Mocerino from the University of Florida for second place and John Zdeblick from the University of Wisconsin-Madison for third. On the Women's side, Shawna Hoffman from Chico State took home first place, Megan Blaschka from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee placed second and Leah Gibney from University of West Florida finished off the podium in third.
