I want to see what my boat would look like with the speaker grills painted orange to match the boat. If possible, can you do 1 without the center tweeters, and 1 with them painted. I'd like the subs and the 6 1/2's painted in both. Thanks in advance, Joe Oh yeah, is there an easy program I can get to do stuff like that on my own?

You could do it in about 10 min in Photoshop. Just use the pen tool to outline the areas you want colour on, make the selection (might need to inverse it after that), and fill it with the colour at some opacity less than 100%. There's probably an easier way than that also, but it's the best method that I know of.

Much easier to zoom in 400+ % and use the magic wand tool to select the majority of the grill, select the hull color, fill with foreground color and then use the pen tool to touch up.

if you go to photoshop elements website they have a free trial for 30 days. It has everything you will need to do what you are looking to do. The only downside is that you might have a hard time if you have never used photoshop before.

Joe, check out gimp. It's free program that works like photoshop. I'm sure you can find some tutorials around on the internet on how it works.

Thanks, I found gimp yesterday, but I got frusterated with it after about an hour. I'll play with it some more, and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for all the help though. BTW, I picked up some paint from a hobbie shop. I'll clear coat them when I'm done. We'll have to see how it turns out.

you can get photoshop elements for pretty cheap. like less then 100$ and it comes with a video editing program to. both of them are pretty nice. nothings beats CS3 but elements is very user friendly and you can do almost anything with it. might be worth looking into. and by the way. sick boat! i love the orange

I think it looked better with the orange backing rather than the orange speaker grills, just me though.

I think the orange backing looks good but all the speakers need to have the same color grills. I don't like that the mid bass and tweets are silver and the subs are black.

^^^^ X2. I think the speakers would look good if they were the same color as the EPIC on the back with the all orange backing (Message edited by lakesurfer on October 26, 2009) (Message edited by lakesurfer on October 26, 2009)

JKW has a point. I do like the backing, and I like the speakers. I just wonder how it would look from any other angle? Also, How do I go about painting the fiberglass? The grills are 1 thing, painting the back is a whole other deal. Here's my only other pic of the side and back.

I dont know if you can paint fiberglass, but you could have that area wrapped. Should not cost you that much at all. (Message edited by lakesurfer on October 26, 2009)

A wrap would be easy and non permanent. Is it just the angle of the pic or does the transom where the Epic logo is stick up so high it blocks the the lower tweeters? Is so that seems like a poor design.

"Painting" fiberglass is also known as spraying gelcoat. The two processes are very similar. You should probably contact Epic to find out what color gelcoat their using.

You can paint fiberglass. Just like a car(corvette). Like Brett suggested I would do vinyl sticker though.

The more I look at it, the more I don't know. What about just painting the subs?

I think it looks good the way it is. There is such a thing as too much color.

I like it as is. The only thing I would do is paint the outer speaker grills to match the subs.
