I don't have any experience wearing comp vest and I've been wanting to get one but I'm not sure if any would be floaty enough for my standards. I just want it to be able to float me at the surface if my lungs were expelled of air, not having to float me face up or anything like that. Oh and I'm sure body build is an important factor, I'm about 155 lbs, and would wear an adult medium size.

A tried and true vest that seems to always remain popular just for the reasons state is the Oneill Outlaw Vest. It seems to fit the bill for alot of customers...especially with your build....but know that there is never a guarantee on keeping you floating....but get one..try it out...jump in a pool, off the diving board...see how it works. Just my 2 cents. Bill @ Performance

Any of Helium's new Balance Series vest have 12 out of the 15 lbs of flotation, they're the closest to being CGA of comp. vests

make sure you blow all the air out of your lungs then see if it floats you still. you will be surprised by how much you sink.

Is the baller the same as the og comp? And for those of you who said the baller does it float you well enough to keep you at the surface with no air in your lungs?

I use the jetpilot A10. It has side slots that are open and I added more foam from a cheep orange vest. That made just enough difference for me. (have to give credit to UncleJessie for the idea)

I'm looking to put a new vest on my X-mas list and didn't want to start a new thread. My boat is black and red, so matching colors would be nice but not necessary. However I happened to come across and heard good reviews about the Oneil Revenge. Any comments on that or others? I ride in CA and want a USCG approved vest.

I have been real happy with the Liquid Force Henshaw. It totally keeps you floating unlike most of the other vest listed above. It is not CG Approved, but definitely more float than most non CGA vests. Not sure if they make it anymore, as I don't see it on their site. Mine was from 08' I believe... Maybe 07'.

I second the Oneill Vapor, its a great comfy vest that floats better than any other comp vest ive tried. Since it was discontinued you could probably find one cheap online.

Third the Oneill Vapor and I tested it head-2-head (result top of pool vs. bottom of pool) with the A-10...I don't hit rails, but I've heard the Vapor is takes a beating as well whilst keeping your innards protected.

Too bad I'm not Xl or XXL, cuz they have the o'neill vapor on ebay for $33.95 in those sizes. I didn't get a PM, Cary - at least not in an email. I don't know how to check a 'PM box' on this board if that's even possible.

A-10 does not have enough flotation for a hamster. Don't waste your money on it. A rider died wearing one after being knocked out.

Second Diggs on the LF Henshaw Comp. Way better than most comp vests I've tried. I picked up an 07 for $29 from Evogear.com
