Porkchops reminded me of some good times from another post. What company would you like to still see here if it never crashed and its team. I would of liked to see wake tech still be here. I know LF has WT founders but the team was killer back then. Byerly, Gator, Randy, Greg, Josh Smith, Collin Wright and Brandon Meek. Ok, I know get lost old school guy. I am off to go watch my hit and mayday VCR tapes yes I said tapes youngsters

Squid, the first time I ever got up behind the boat boarding was on a Waketech uni directional with the sandal wraps (14yrs. ago) behind a fully restored 1972 MC Stars & Stripes... Ahhh, thanks for the memories

Shouldn't the 95 Connely Blade be mentioned here? It seems like that was one of the first Mass market big name brand board that was in all the shops. I know it caught my eye and made me try the sport.

Didn't a bunch of the surf names like Rusty and Thruster and Santa Cruz try to make/market wakeboards for a while? I would have bet on one of those making long run in our sport.

Missing Neptune (rode the Abyss at Dean Lavelle's), Full Tilt (Cobe's stuff was sick), Wake Tech, more recently BlindSide (have a Session mounted in the garage) & Double Up (Nelson really had a good thing when he owned it) Anyone remember Insane? Core? How about Millenium (only ever seen on of these in person)

Oh Christy you little she-devil you! The Vicious Fishes, green or purple? - Pool Balls anyone? Tie-dyed? Scepter One. Yeah, got a little love for Neptune. Jeff Heer with mohawk, McCaffray with the "Florida Sucks" t-shirt in the mag set off quite a storm.

Moose, I think that Thruster above stole your shape back in '88. I think you might have a legal claim to all their profits since then. Hmm I wonder why their shapes changed... clearly yours are still shredding the gnar.

This is pretty much the best thread ever! So many of these companies were sick... Rusty and thruster did make boards...thruster is one of the original companies, for sure, and made some really interesting boards. Here's a sweet ad I found... and rusty made boards as well. Finally, cunning, I actually have a k2 woody (and a few other boards mentioned). I think the wake tech you're talking about is the big daddy. That thing had a spanking nose so you could 180 to "fakie nose slide" (or switch tail, whatever) like greg nelson. He ALWAYS looked sick on that woody...always. As for my favorite companies..sound was one...I was recently thinking how ill fulltilt would have been, had they stuck around. Also thruster, mainly when erich schmaltz and the old school snowboarders rode them...serum was bad ass, I always wanted one of those boards...soulbound boots--I love them, joe umali hates them (hee hee-jk joe, lol, lmao, rofl, etc, etc, etc. seriously though, just kidding.) Oh...FRESH WATER TRACTION. That's an important one. and last but not least, the original double up. There was nothing like it, and there's been nothing like it since. greg had something special about him and that was made apparant with that company...I've got some of my best wakeboarding memories from that double up experience. oh wait, one more would have to be neptune, ca. 1995-1997. Sweet team, sweet visual imagery, sweet...coffee and long ass shorts. The original NWesters from neptune personified that northwest style and I love that...NBN...music cds... wake specialty, are you thinking of stuart barton? I don't recall if he was from arizona, but there's a video with him riding behind the cable that was in AZ, and his custom board company was called barton wakeboards or something like that. Here's a list of 30 defunct companies to choose from and there are a lot missing from this list. It's amazing how many have come and gone in just 15 years or so. http://www.wakeworld.com/BoardGuide/Other.asp

Moose, i'd like to get a demo on one of your boards. i'm don in so-cal all the time (my dad lives in Newport) and I ride at Canyon & Elsinore fairly regularly. Maybe next summer you can come out to one of Canyon Lake's tournaments or demos. I'll be at all those and seriously I'm down to shred. let me know how we can hook it up! Not too long ago I took out my LF Free (oatmeal color) out for a set. it was really fun. I'm gonna put some good fins on it & my zeus' and see how radical I can get. I think the boots might hang over the edges...

AARON, They moved their offices to 16750 Link Ct., Fort Myers, Fl 33912. Heres my Gator Pro thats hanging on the ceiling. I think its really wierd that there are only a handfull of wakeboarders here in Oklhoma that even know who Gator is, or who have even heard of Gator. I was really hoping they would bring their bus here. Danny T. WWW. OKC Board Shop .COM

Sweet, my parents live in Ft. Myers, Next time I'm down there I'm going to swing by and see if I can get him to sign it... Does yours have the honeycomb core? I was told they didn't make very many of these because they got in trouble with Gatorade, and there is even fewer of the honeycomb ones... Maybe I'm wrong...

I want to say that the gatorade graphic was only made with their higher end, light weight core. (I can't say if it's pure honeycomb or not, but I believe the byerly pro model was made of the same materials. I own both boards and they both have that honeycomb logo on it.) WT did get in trouble for that graphic, and the production of those boards was very limited...I believe tony finn was able to swindle 1000 boards with that gatorade logo. I don't know that they were able to produce many of the t-shirts. when they came out, I special ordered some t's through overtons and I got this other freaking gator shirt instead of the gatorade logo (I can only presume that they were not allowed to make that shirt for the public, or again, they were VERY limited).
