Also try to keep the handle down low, oriented towards your lead hip, it is much more tiring and you will get sore faster but you will be in complete control and you'll be less likely to form some bad habits that you'll need to breal later down the road. Instead of immediately starting out trying to get the handle in and down low, start by getting your elbows in and once you've been doing it for a little while those muscles will get more used to it then move into trying to get the handle in and down low. By doing this, not only will you have more control and as a result progress more quickly, but when you do start jumping the wakes you will have much more control and you wont have to worry about breaking any bad habbits.
