So I just went and picked my go cart up from my Grandma's. Going to tear it apart and make a winch, its a 5 horse Briggs and Straten with a torque converter on it already. Do y'all think this will be enough engine to work for a winch?
I'm doing the same thing. I'm pretty sure if you use the correct spool/sprocket (bad terminology) combo it will be fine. Deep water starts probably won't be the brightest idea... but I'm confident it will work with a 5hp
That's what I'm saying..I know deep water starts aren't to common...but still. And Luker was right about the sprocket. Go to www.wakeboarding-winch.com and you should be good. That's where i look stuff up.
My friends built one with a 5 horse engine. Unless you weigh under 120 pounds deeper water starts are out of the question. We just sat in a couple inches of water and that worked great.
