Malibu has always preached that they are employee owned...I call Boo Yah! I found that Black Canyon Capital, LLC has a controlling interest: http://www.blackcanyoncapital.com/portfolio.html

Uh, what's your point? They gave equity in the company to help finance operations? So what?! Do you have a mortgage and still claim to be a homeowner? How do you know that Black Canyon owns 100% of the company and that employees or others don't still have a percentage of ownership?

Unless your local K/Wal-Marts are arranged into small islands, I think you mean Aisle 7 and 5.

WOW, way to send those Malibu owners reeling. I think that kind of brutal facts will put them in their place. Thanks for keeping us all informed about the lies that Malibu represents. That's a big gotcha...now what?

You better not buy any wakeboards, because every wakeboard company (most of them anyways) is owned by the same investor.

I know you're trying to be funny but your question is interesting enough that I'll answer. I never knew anyone who worked at K-Mart but I do know that Wal-Mart has pretty good benefits for people who have been there more than a year. I had a friend who worked there for 10 years and he had better health care than I do as a software developer working for a mid-sized company. Also, their employee stock purchase plans are a pretty good deal but I'll keep my 401K. The pay isn't that great but if you work the system, you can get up to $35K-$40K per year for basically being a stock boy.

Id say its a pretty good thing. Financing only helps push the company to new levels. So while everyone here jumps to conclusion about malibu being a company of lies, id say take a second look at malibu and how well there doing. What most people dont realize is this is a growing sport, every company is going to grow and help push the sport. This financing for malibu helps them design perfect wake machines, and excels the entire community.
