Hey, I'm a film student out in California and I'm looking to get a new camera this summer to film a lot of riding. I know my way around camera's pretty well so it doesn't have to be very beginner and I use final cut pro. Any suggestions for cameras, I use xl-2s at school but those are a little clunky to bring on boats, I'm looking to go a little smaller
canon GL1's are kinda going out though, its all about the full HD and and suuper great quality. thats just wat i think. but the GL1 has good quality, so ive heard. doesnt it take a disc though? that kinda sucks, hard drives are way easier. but that DVX looks pretty tight, ive never actually seen one though.
absolutely....if you want those pro controls like an xl2 and you want a REALLY REALLY good camera, Get the Sony PMW-EX1! It might fit that area of smaller than an xl2 but still fall in the same category as far controls and everything....of course not an interchangeable lens. I love mine. I must warn...It's around 6k in price.
haha thanks I've been doing more research I think I'm actually not going to go the professional camcorder route quite yet. I realized that they are all kind of above my price range and I'd rather get a higher consumer level HD camera instead of a pro one at this point. That brings me to another question. Would HDV camcorders or HDD camcorders work better. I'm familiar with capturing using DV tapes and it seems like the image quality is a little better as opposed to using the HDD format but most of the reviews I'm finding are from 07. Has HDD gotten any better since then? For example the Canon HG21 vs the Canon HV20?
Anthony buy a HV30 honestly. The footage is amazing. AMAZING. it looks soo good. Easy to work with. Easy to use. go to vimeo and search HV30. SOOO SICK.
the quality will beat any camera under 3,000 dollars defiantly any SD camera
canon hv20, 30, or 40 there dope. i have the hv20 and its sick, small, hd, awesome colors, u cant go wrong! plus i think u can get an hv20 relatively inexpensively!
