I have a liquid force fish 125, i like the pop a lot, the constancy of the pop, and the speed of the board however i do not like the way it tracks and its too loose for me. I was thinking of going with a Shane 136 and my question is does the Shane grip the water better a stronger edge hold than the fish?

The new Shane shape (I believe it was 2006) took many features from the Fish just so you know. Maybe look into the Lyman or Watson. (Message edited by cavlxenvy on February 18, 2008)

I'd recommend the Ronix One I am not riding it now, but I actually went from the Fist to the One and thought they were fairly similar, the One is probably a little faster than the Fish but definitely has a lot of pop and definitely tracks pretty good.

the shane is pretty loose unless you've got it on edge. What part of the looseness don't you like? Is it when you're trying to cut/carve? is it when you're just coasting? What part bothers you? It takes a little while to get used to a loose board if you come from a board where you could rely on your fins to do all the work for you, but it will teach you proper edging rather than just aiming your board!

The Watson (07 134, I don't think the 08 is any different) with no fins is pretty loose, I rode it with fins last night (took them off my Stance, they're 1.1" I think) and it was a totally different board. Tracks real well with or without fins, but with the fins it is so solid when you're not on edge. I prefer it with no fins, makes surface tricks easier, but I hope this helps you out.

I think it's more like: learn to edge properly, ride the roam and then realize you really don't know how to edge properly!

If the fish has one of those edges you can sand down or whatever, you know what I mean right, on the slingshots.... the profile of the fish looks pretty thick and rounded, sharpen them near the tip and tail and it will sink an edge faster, thats as far as I know, I'm not sure though.
