I ride the 138. Absolutly love it. Its failry fast. Great pop.. Landings could be a tad softer but its a great board. I don't think youll have any complaints with it personally...

I find it to be nice pop, fast, grippy but easy enough to break free, and moderate landings.

nice board, more grippy than ps3, of course less than a team but that's a given. i honestly never minded the landings, thought they were softher than say a shane, or ps3 but not quite as soft as the watson from this year. i highly recommend it though, i ride one when i can

ride the 138. I think it's the best board out there. The landings are a bit harder than other boards i've ridden (subjekt, shane, tfd, 3ds, ps3, byerly, watson), but it makes up for it in pop and feel for me. Again its your own preference, but once again it's a great design.

i ride the 138 and love it also. i don't think the landings are hard, but i'm not such a great rider so what do i know? besides, any landing that's not my face hitting the water at 22 mph seems soft! enjoy your new board!

the substance is a rad board. I used to ride the 138 before i switched tothe ps3. just keep in mind that it rides pretty small. i rode the 138 (a size up from what's recommended for me) so i could have softer landings. but all in all, i'd reccomend it for youre next board, test out the ps3... its the substance w/ everything you'd improve about it

I was thinking about the substance but with everyone saying its supper grippy i'm almost steering away from it now. I want a liquid force thats fairly loose that lets me slide around on the water and stuff. I really like surface tricks.

Brett, I bought a Watson this year to replace my substance. After riding it nearly all summer I have started to ride the substance again. I think that it is one of the best boards around. To me it is pretty slow, although a lot of guys on here claim it is fast. It has HUGE pop, and is loose when riden with no fins. It does have harder landing than my Watson, but the pop more than makes up for the hard landings. To me the board is a perfect compliment to my riding style.

substance, fast? that's a first. by the way, my description above isn't putting down the board. it's just my description of the ride. the only thing i found to be a negative for all is the hard landings. i spoke to watson about it and he said that that was the thing he wanted to improve on the watson.
