I'm getting ready to buff the hull to bring back the shine with the Finesse-It II. I have a little dullness and mionr swirl marks. I was just curious which pads most are using with the FI-It. Foam or wool. I also found the foamed wool pads. Does anyone use these? http://www.wolfgangcarcare.com/foamed-wool-7-5-inch-polishing-buffing-pad.html
I'm looking for a pad that will knock out the 2000 grit marks and light oxidation but leave a good enough finish that all is needed is waxing after the FI-It.
I am not sure what cut Finesse-It II your using but I would recommend for light correction do the following:
1 Pass Orange foam pad 1 Pass White foam pad
Depending on how aggressive the polish is determines which pad you use and how much shine you want. I would only use a foamed wool pad if you need more serious correction. I just put about 20 hrs in polishing my boat (2002 malibu vlx) and the shine/depth/gloss is better than the brand new ones I saw at the boat show. Take your time and work the polish until it breaks down.
I looked up the polish and if your wanting a one step process and are set on that polish then use the orange foam pad. The foamed wool is way too harsh for a one step application.
Wool pads are for cutting and polishing. "Finesse It" is a swirl remover made to take the marks compound can leave behind. 1. use a wool pad with "compound". 2. use a foam pad with "finess it". 3. Hand Glaze and then Wax it. Or you can just Wax it.
