I just purchased 1 JL 10W7 and a JL 500/1 amp. It is going to be installed under the seat of the SAN 210 in a custom enclosure. Has anyone else run this sub in a boat? I have heard good things about it but have never listened to it. I know it is kind of a sin not to listen to speakers before buying them, but I didn't have time. Any feedback would be great.

Great sub but I think 500w for a W7 is not enough,10" W6 wants that much not sure about the W7.I got 2-10" W6 and got the 1000/1 and I think it's just enough to push them.

Thanks ed, I wish I had the cash to buy two of these things. Just the subs run about $550 a piece. It was really an impulse buy. I just got tired of listening to the stock Polk 10" sub.

The W7 is the best sub for a vehicle, but I would choose a W6 for a boat. A 500/1 is great for a W6, but is a little bit of an underachiever for the W7. Consider swapping your 10W7 for a 12W6?

Rob, I have already purchased the sub and amp and they are working on a box as we speak. I could return the amp for a more powerful one, but the sub is locked in. Why would this sub not work well in a boat? I don't know that much about audio but I would think if it worked well in a car, it would do well in a boat.

I have a 12W7 and 500/1 in an enzo under the drivers side dash and it sounds way good. If some say it is underpowered they may be right but mine hits harder and goes louder than I can stand. You wont be disapointed just my thoughts.

W7's run hot and are competition subs. The W6 can put up with more of the weather elements and abuse exposed in a boat.

I'm running a 10 W7 with the JL 500/1. Works great, I am using a JL box also. If you build a box make sure you do it right or you will blow it apart. I am also runing two more JL amps for the inside and tower. Wet Sounds are the way to go now for the tower. They are be driven be a 300/2 Just my opinion. Keep the amp and sub just build a good box.

I used to when I was younger. Now it is just something easy to use because I don't really like to try to remember different logins for several boards. Good job by the way. Mike

For those who have a w7 underneath the drivers seat how does it sound. I have never heard a w7 and was curious if all the hype is true.

never heard one on a 500/1, but on a 1000/1, in the right box, it will shake your eyeballs

JL amps are the RMS, not the max. All jl amps are 2x what they say they are. Same with subs. They under rate everything. Trust me, a 1000/1 will blow a 10w7 with ease. The 10w7 has a 500 watt rms. A jl 500/1 has 500 watts rms. They both have 1000 watt max so they are perfect with each other. I have 2 13w7 and 2 1000/1 in my truck and its loud as hell. Its a perfect setup because the 13w7 has rms of 1000 watts and peak of 2000 watts which is what the amp has also so i dont blow my subs and i dont fry my amp.

I forgot. Is it worth all the extra money compared to a w6?

There is no comparison between a W6 and a W7 if you really want to know.

Josh-I have a 1000/1 that I originally planned to run 2 ported 12w6's in two sep boxs (1 under driver and other in passenger compartment) I have the one under the driver but still have yet to hook up the other sub in fear. The single when turned up rattles my new boat so hard I worry what two would do. I've heard the W7's and they are spectacular, I just dont know if its worth it in boat. Maybe I should have gone sealed instead of ported.

I have a 13w7 powered by a 1000/1 and it thumps. I also have 2 300/2's...one for each NVS addiction. I also have a 450/4 powering my cce770's. Sounds pretty great.
