Did a lot of searching, but I wasn't able to find a good thread about this. I'm trying to mount my new INDY tower on my 2001 Sunsport. I'm having a really difficult time determining where to mount the rear tower legs because every time I measure it doesn't seem that they are perfectly across from each other.
I've tried measuring from the bow, and having the tape measure follow the rub rail, from the rear as best I could, from the cleats on the rear, and from the windshield which I am 99% sure isn't straight. I've also tried going from the ski pylon and the hub on the front of the engine, but it seems that something is uneven there also.
The last thing I came up with was a ratchet strap over the nose, ski pylon, and fastened in the center at the rear of the boat with another strap perpendicular to that. I have a large drywall T that I used to make sure they were 90 degrees to each other and marked them off.
With these measurements, one is about 1 inch farther from the windshield than the other...any ideas how I can confirm they directly across from each other, or am I thinking about this too much and being too particular?
Thanks all!
