Holy s@$t that is alot of engineering. Awesome work! Are those 2JZ's? I had a friend that played around with those motors. Never to your uncles extent, but he got close to 900 HP out of his and that was just one. ;-)

If they're out of a supra, they are 2JZGTE motors

TBD .... at this point he thinks a custom tube frame car and he'll probably make it mid-range because of the weight.

I think those are 1JZ engines, but could be wrong. Cool project and LOTS of machine work! Looks as if he flipped one of the heads around, created a custom valve train for it, and now the exhaust exits the top of the engine similar to the newer Ford Turbo Diesels.
Can't wait for more progress pics!

Correct, they are the 2.5l engines.

Correct again, he started with them opposite but flipped one to keep the common ports to the center

Incorrect:
Look again, not headers but induction pipes that lead to a collector that, without question will be bolted to an aftercooler.
The hot side of the turbos pretty much bolt right onto the heads.
Bad ass no doubt.

Look again closely... Notice in the first pic the turbos are outboard of the heads. Now look at the heads and notice the left head has a smooth machined surface. That is the back of the head, no camshaft half moon cutouts. The right side you're looking at the front... Notice the non-machined surface and half moon cutouts for the camshafts.
Now on this pic looking at the front of the engine again you will notice the left head is not machined, but the right head is... they were swapped making the intake ports be on bottom now while the exhaust in on top. To get the cam gears on the right head to the front of the engine he would have to machine new half moon cutouts along with other work I'm sure.
Also in the final pic there is no place for fuel rails or injectors. Not to mention a plenum style sheet metal intake would much easier and probably less time-consuming to build than that nest of snaking pipe. That is most definitely exhaust! Those thin pieces of sheet metal are probably just a flat surface to reference ending each pipe. I'm sure that is where a thick flange will be welded for the turbo/turbos to mount too.
You can't expect him to use stock turbos after all the custom machine work and fabrication that has gone into this thing either. I imagine it will be a big single or small twin turbo setup.

That is NUTS! Awesome on so many levels! Of course we will need a sound clip when it's fired up and running.

Next update:
* Mated the engine to the transaxel and started to process how to package everything
* PVC is a rough frame of how the frame will ultimately look, getting an idea for space and where things will route
* Cardboard box around the transaxel is half of a fuel tank that is planned
* New linkage mechanism so the 6-speed can be shifted from up front with a pair of Morse push-pull cable(s).
* Engine will be twin turbo'd with two - Garrett GTX 3076's with .85 AR turbines
.... the car will be twin turbo, not quad.

Not yet.
He said he only wants it to be him and his other good good buddy in the room, in-case they need to talk/move quick rather than a zoo of people. I'm pretty pumped to see it run though.... its going to be insane.

bummer she'll only be a twin... but still... those straight 6's are crazy responsive. That thing will turn heads and snap necks for sure...
