So I really want to start getting better and land some spins but am starting with a 180 but I am not so stable riding switch. Do you get used to it the more you ride or will it always feel sloppy?

The more you ride switch the better it will feel. Just stick with it.

Walt speaks the truth. I've been taking 30-45 minute carve sets behind a jet ski each day I go out and only ride switch the whole time. It's amazing how much better I can ride switch already this season.

I've been riding my 3DS w/o fins just so I can work on my switching abilities. It makes it a lot easier to get started.

With my recent injury, all I do is ride switch for the set. Everytime you get in the water, take some time to ride switch. It will come.

I was like deltariders and got hurt, so spent all my time simply carving switch. I kept envisioning a mirror...do everything just like regular stance...but mirrored. Before I did that I seemed to always have the wrong leg bent/straight, and didn't rotate my hips the opposite of 'normal'. Secondly, to get used to the 'feel', let go with your trailing hand to allow your body to ride parallel with the board. It feel 'less' awkward when you are twisted because of holding with both hands. If you keep practicing, one day in the near future you will suddenly realize you are riding switch and you didn't even know it. That is a GREAT feeling

One easy way to improve you switch is to start each run switch. When you get up & normally carve around warming up - do it switch. Probably not as effective as a 30 minute all-switch run, but this will at least get you feeling better switch without too much effort.

Also turn your stance out. If you riding positive/positive switch is going to suck. Setup your stance duck and it should be a little easier.

I can land a bunch of tricks switch (scarecrows, 5's, BS 180's, FS 180's) but can't ride switch to save my life. It's pretty funny, but I just don't ever do it. I used to be able to do switch wake jumps and cab 180's, but it's pretty much gone right now. The next few weeks one of my goals is to get out there and spend a few minutes riding switch during each set. (Message edited by guido on June 12, 2007)

Start out getting up switch and carving, ride doubles so it forces you to stay in control.

Evan, I hear ya. I can land a scarecrow a lot easier than a switch jump. Come to think of it I can land anything that involves rotating to switch easier than starting and ending switch.

just ride around switch for a little bit at the beggining of each run, it should help alot. also try some stuff like half cabs that you edge in switch and land regular. it helps alot when it comes to learning how to edge and ride switch

Damn it's tough to cut toe side at the driver side wake when you haven't ever hit it in the past 16 yrs that you've been boarding (MAD FACE)

I am goofy and working on switch as well as toe side w2w. So what I have been doing is a toe side 180 on one side followed by a switch toe side 180 coming in from the other side. I just do that back and forth about 6 or 8 times at the beginning of each run. Also the guys that I am riding with like to surf I am goofy and they are regular so I am surfing regular, I have been surprised how much surfing regular translates into wakeboarding regular (switch).

I'm with jack. Not sure if you snowboard, Snippy, but that what does it for me. I find my self teaching a lot of snowboarders, which is slow. So I just snowboard switch the whole day while teaching.

I have never snowboarded so it makes it a little tougher since I ski in the winters. Ill just have to ride switch until I feel a little more comfortable.

i think so. I am going to ride it one handed then go for two, i think this might help. I wish there was a video on specifically riding switch.
