Watch the video in the main board of Rusty hitting X-Star double ups. Need I say more? If wake quality is first, it's an easy decision.

Dave, you may want to consider a 23LSV if you are looking at the 230 SAN. It would be more comparable and is a great boat with a great wake. That being said every boat you listed is awesome. Buy the one you/your parents like the best. Which way are you guys leaning right now?

So the kids supposed to feel bad because his dad is buying a boat? Most people get their start growing up with parents that like boating. Don't flame him for it. (Message edited by psudy on March 30, 2009)

Well after testing all of them you should have a clear decision on which one you like best. But my vote goes to the 230.

we are leaning towards the X star or the 230 because of location of dealers being 20 minutes in either direction.. We are family friends with the mastercraft dealer but we didnt like how the x-star drives like a tank... that being said the 230's wake was alot different from a mastercarft... thanks for your all of your help it seems to me that alot of people are a real big fan of both so whatever our family decides it cant be a bad choice! Thanks alot

You could easily narrow down your choices if you decided you didn't want above the floor ballast, whether it be bags or hard tanks. I would never have above the floor stock ballast again I hate it.

I have never thought the Xstar handled bad. I have been up to Radar Lake and had the xstar loaded down and it handles fine around the islands.

WakeMikey seems to have a vendetta against anyone looking at new boats. Seen it in a few threads now. I think it's great that parents buy wake boats. I'm sure his parents enjoy the lake and boating too so what is the big deal? And whether people like it or not, these wake boats weren't made just for core wake boarders. They also make great family boats and the family that can afford and wants a nice boat I say more power to them.

Jealoucy is a crappy way to go through life, wakemikey. What if his dad posted the question. Would you flame him for buying a nice boat for his family?

WhineyMike, go somewhere else. There's no reason to flame him, he's not acting spoiled or anything, jusy asking for advice and justification for the purchase his family is soon going to make. Be glad his family is supporting the industry in these tough times

WakeMikey, Op says parents and I looking to upgrade. How does that equate to dad buying a new boat for son? Could easily be a 50/50 or something. Sheesh!

x-star handles fine at speed. dump the tanks before docking tho...... it does not like to turn weighted at docking speed... i mean my gf who never drove a boat before pulls me no problem and she is 5 foot 3. i wouldnt let her dock it tho....and she wouldnt want to

hey ive had a supra 24ssv and now a 22. ive ridden behind a bunch of boats but only owned supra. the 22 is the best of both worlds 15 passenger instead of 16 on the 24. and way better handling, and the wake is awesome. and for the money you cant go wrong with supra. i would suggest make sure you get the big motor and the right prop

Supra shouldn't even be in the same category with those boats. The reason I say that is because the cost of a Supra is a WHOLE lot cheaper..... Nautiques and X-Stars are at least $10K to $20k higher.

X-Star is hands down one of the greatest wakes out there. But I feel like there is more to a boat than just the wake. Mastercraft is getting passed up in innovation and new features. I feel like the Nautiques have alot more to offer inside of the boat, and it's wakes are still on the same par as Mastercraft.

A 230 with 4000lbs in ballast does not chine lock, it drives like there is no weight in it. Get it.

Does the engine make a difference? PCM has won JD powers 4 yrs in a row. Indmar is in all the other boats. I think the motor makes a big difference. $.02

The PCM ZR6 is the best inboard engine by a mile. So powerful, yet efficient at the same time.

IMO..... The current X-star is the best boat every made. They drive awesome, handle a ton of weight, make great wakes and look sick. What else could you want. I'm pretty partial to the picklefork, too. It adds a bunch of extra room in the nose of the boat. Great for chillen.

No the carpet just doesnt come out, thus allowing moisture to sit and rot away the non formed-in cushion bases.

I was torn between a 230 (236) and an xstar. What decided for me was a)price, b)seating arrangment (I love the rear facing seats) c)narrowish "nautique" wake and d) high freeboard for surfing. all in all I think its the best overall boat out there. Maybe an xstar has a 1-2% "better" wakeboarding wake but all the other comforts were better with the 236, edging out the xstar.
