I still can't get over how well the color of the boat matched your caddy.
Can't wait to see what you, Bling and Clay might come up with for a system in the new VLX.

Bling BLING!

Mike: Dammmmm That's a crazy system in the CES EXT. Did anyone catch that it had 5 alternators and was running on 19 volt's makes all these boat systems look like walkman's

Grant, your Escalade wouldn't go "woo-woooo" with a Cat Back exhaust. You need to go full turbo back with a Cat Delete to get the whistle, homie.

Incidently..... I'm pretty sure you can get a CTS in a diesel in Europe. Also, for those that think diesels are for farm equipment: spend some more time traveling the world! I definitely wouldn't turn down a BMW 7 series with a diesel. I think it makes 500lb/ft of torque (I could get the exact numbers, but I'm a lazy american).

Nice ride Grant,I definitely agree with your theory of how you want to roll to the lake and NOT bounce all the way there.

Not a good idea to tow with 24's, 22's are even pushing it depending on the tire.

Whats the point of being up that high? You still have basically the same ground clearance cause the axles are only maybe 20 inches off the ground, and its not like your gonna take those big rims offroading.

Quote: Whats the point of being up that high?

In a lot of cases the 'lift thing' is for looks. Many lifted trucks are such show pieces that no-one in their right mind would take them offroad. The fuel economy drops, it costs money to lift them in the first place, the ride is worse, the stability is impaired and it's a pain in the a$$ getting in and out. Other than that, it's a great idea ;)

Quote: Oh, im sorry. I forgot that everyone knows where i drive my truck.
You're not trying to tell us that you need a lifted truck to drive in that 1" deep snow are you?
Old     (sikkvlx)      Join Date: Aug 2006       02-04-2007, 9:50 AM Reply
I must not be in my right mind. I built my truck to drive offroad. Thats why it has a solid front axle, air lockers,5:13 gears hydraulic stearing,ect... Its a shame that just because idiots dont know what they are looking at, they assume that its only for looks. WHY CANT YOU HAVE BOTH?
Old     (tyboarder03)      Join Date: Nov 2003       02-04-2007, 10:03 AM Reply
Its crazy to me this site people dog on Dan for having a 4x4 with 22's and talk about lowering it... yet mike gets dogged for having a 4x4 lifted on 22's. Just because YOU cant understand wy a solid axle swap was done with dual reservoir fox shox doesn't mean your bone stock 2500HD 4x4 is better Should everybody just have an escalade like Grant on 22's so all you piss ants can be happy with the picture???? That said ... mike it looks sick Id drive it any day of the week.Upload

Mike, you seem to be an exception to the rule. Most lifted trucks I see in/around AZ look like they haven't seen a supermarket curbstone let alone anything rough. I look forward to seeing pics of your hitting some proper offroad!

Just like a blinged out boat, to each their own with the tow vehicles. If you can afford or just want to do it, do it! I for one love the lifted rigs. The caddy's look great.... the lifted trucks are defenently my style, but a suv lowered a bit with 20+ inch rims looks sweet too... And if your not into any of it, good for you, but don't knock somebody for havin some fun with their toys!
Old     (grant_west)      Join Date: Jun 2005       02-10-2007, 12:33 PM Reply
Tyler: I think I know what you’re talking about. First off I like custom rides. I think about the negative things people say about the customized/Lifted trucks in this thread. I think the reason people say negative things is because when they make a comment about the rig they envision them self’s owning it and how it would fit into their life.
Example: I’m a normal guy and I like a tow rigs then I see some pick’s of a crazy lifted or completely slammed truck that’s more of a show vehicle than a daily driver. You think wow that’s nice but how the F" would that fit into my life or my garage. And how would that thing be driving to the store to pick up some groceries. The show 4X4's also fit into a weird category. With all that custom paint and chrome you would be crazy to off road it. So if you cant off road it and driving it on the road is a bit tricky then what’s it for!
I guess it’s all what your looking 4. If I was in the business of 4WD parts you bet I would have a crazy lifted attention getting 4X4 to draw attention to my business ect. At a car show I would be totally checking those lifted 4X4's out But I think if you asked a bunch of people what they would rather drive to the lake and to the store and back you would find more people liking the normal sized suv or truck's.
