I plan to buy a used boat this winter and need a little help with direct drives. I have owned V-Drives in the past and wanted to know if there is much, if any, difference between Direct and V-Drives. I am not set on one or the other, but it seems that direct drives tend to go a little cheaper...

Kenny,
This topic has been covered a lot in the past try doing a search on it, you'll find a lot more information.

Heres the big differences though. The V-drive is better for wakeboarding and allows for a lot more storage in the boat. The seating arrangement in a V-drive is way better in my opinion because you don't have the motor in between everyone.

The advantages of a direct drive are that as you mentioned they are cheaper and they are better for slalom skiing.

If all you do is board and you can afford to get into a V-drive do that, you'll be much happier in the end. Goodluck with the search.

Thanks for the info. I will do a search, I don't want to have people reading the same thing over and over. I know that gets old...
