Doesn't self priming mean that it will suck water even if placed above the water line? Please forgive me if I am ignorant.

Please clarify. I think that the Tsunami is NOT self priming.

So I have never used one of these (never had fat sacs) does the actual pump part go in the water or do you just put the tube in the water?

You throw the pump in the water and attach the hose to the bag when filling the bags. Then attach the pump to the fitting on the bag to empty the bags.

Pump goes in the water with the hose attached to your sac to fill and the pump is attached to the bag with the hose over the side for empty.
