I want WakeWorld's definition of ownership goggles?

I had a lot of time to myself thinking and getting ready for labor day weekend trip up to the Delta today and thought to myself....what is the actual definition?(since I been told a few times that I have ownership goggles)

I believe it means the boat manufacturer you bought from is the one you love most. Kind of means you only know and see what's in front of you (like your own boat).

For example, read any X-star vs. VLX thread, etc. Some people just think their boat has the biggest wake, best interior, etc...

Hope that helps

It means that you (or me) believes that whatever boat, car, etc... that you (or me) purchased is the absolute best and whatever anybody else owns is crap and cannot possibly throw as good a wake or go as fast (whatever you are referring to) as anything else. I think that everyone has it to one extent or another some just worse than others.

if you own a mastercraft and fail to see the good in nautiques, malibu, sanger, etc., then you've got ownership goggles on. also, failing to see flaws in your boat's design and/or performance is having ownership goggles.

dane is the perfect example of NOT having ownership goggles. he owns a vlx, but likes and even loves features on other boats and dislikes some features on his.

My definition would be more along the lines of just generally enjoying your boat's looks, function, features, and performance.

Do I love my boat...ABSOLUTELY. Are there features/performance characteristics on other brands I like...ABSOLUTELY.

To make an analogy:
It's like seeing another chick and going "d@mn she's got nice (insert feature here)!", but knowing your woman has the package that suits you best.

Ed, Don't listen to that crap. Whoever says that to you is just stirring up drama without reason. Your boat is hella tight. I've ridden behind every boat out there, SANTE, VLX, all of them, and while each boat has its strengths and weaknesses, your boat/wake combo is one of my favorites all around, plus you have yours dialed in really well. If you are pleased with your purchase, then you are the winner.
"Ownership goggles," WTF is that?

I'm sorry I did not get a chance to come out and ride with you this summer, things are super crazy with my house being all torn apart, I've actually only ridden once, and that was in Atlanta. Hope we can catch up soon, and I'd also be interested in paying you (or trading some work) for an electrical consultation after we get structural stuff completed, maybe in the fall or winter if you are interested.

dococ, "hella" tight? uh, the ricki lake show has been off the air for years!

just kidding man!

hey, we need to ride! i need some lessons from you dude! due to filming/editing, my regular job, working on the new house, i haven't had time to ride, so my riding's gone downhill!

Machew, altho in the defense of mastercraft owners I think they have a right to goggles. I own a malibu, and am certainly not complaining, but I think just the amount of detail and quality that goes into a mastercraft, in my mind, earns it the right to be one of if not the best wake boat manufacturers out there. Not to say that they are perfect, but I do think matercraft owners have a right to the goggles they wear.

If you spend 50k for a boat. You better have ownership goggles. If you thought it was the best. You would not have bought it.

Bess, you missed the point.

Joe, that would be "dope!"

Hope the film is coming along well, I've been thinking about ya. We may be in the same boat in terms of riding going down hill, but that always can be remedied. Once your film is wrapped and I get the roof back on my house, we should plan some days out on the dirty D. Oh wait, neither of us owns a boat.

I guess this was my thought posting this thread, however I do see flaws in my boat and I do see good thing in other boats but is it really ownership goggles b/c you bought what you thought was best boat/wake combo???

ed, if it's what you thought was best, you wouldn't have bought it. it's only ownership goggles, like i said, if you can't recognize the good in others and admit the flaws or the bad in yours.

dococ, the film's coming along really well! the last trip to florida, i brought along a copy of beyond 3 to show dallas and have cathy reminisce.

can you shoot over your brother's email address again? it's getting to that time when we're going to need to use the footage, and like i told you, we're not going to use it without his permission.

thanks man!

Ed, thanks man! I really appreciate it about the electrical!! It won't be for a little while yet until I get the structure buttoned up, but I'll hit you up when the time comes. Maybe we'll do some riding before then, as well.

Joe, check your email. Glad The Chick Flick is chugging along well, and very cool that Beyond 3 is getting some play out of it and that you're still interested in using some of that. I talked to my bro a little while ago, he said he'll look out for a message from you.
