When my truck was in the shop, I used my G-Pa's truck. 2WD, bald tires at Miller Park with lots of silt. If you are really careful, and don't stomp on the gas, you will be fine. Also, have some guys standing on the rear bumper and bounce the truck as you are starting to move. The bouncing motion puts extra weight on the rear tires, and usually is all the extra traction you need. Or, get 4WD. Besides, chains in the winter suck too.
