I've been selling a lot of the JStar Empire boards lately - Rusty M's board. Demo as much as you can from a local dealer or just make you best guess depending upon what you are looking for in board performance. Buy the board that best compensates for your weaknesses. For beginners, round ends and center fin. More advanced, smaller fins on the outside. For softer landings a center "spine" in the bottom. For good speed, hooked rails and outside fins. Better pop, 3-stage. Into the flats, continious rocker. Many other variables.
