I'm wanting to add some 6x9's to my boat and want to know if these speakers are any good..Does anyone have experience with these? http://shop.i4u.com/0/654480.html
are they marine speakers? My concern is that if my boat gets caught in a rain storm, how would car speakers hold up......tell me more about your speakers...models, power, price, etc......
i think marine speakers are a hoax. there is nothing to get damaged on a normal car speaker (unless it's a paper cone) alot of boats come with normal speakers through the boat and tower. i think all marine speakers are is white plastic grills and they jack up the price cause they say marine
agree with entrust - why pay for "marine" speakers when you could get some top notch components for the same price. If I paint them white, does it make them marine?
so car speakers should work, just stay away from paper materials......Is this what your saying? I do agree with you guys, but I just don't have any experience with the matter.
There are some differences in marine speakers like coated tensile leads, the cone generally has a boot keep water out of the voice coil if it is a coaxial setup, and they never have foam based surrounds. However a good quality car speakers will last a long time without direct contact with water. Over time though the tensile leads(wire coming off the terminals that connect to the voice coil) or the voice coil will corrode and fail due to moisture and condensation
