is $250 for a new 2005 Parks Biolite a decent deal? is that a good board? Is it for pretty advanced riders, or could a newbie use it?

Good board, with lot of pop off the wake, IMO might be a little to much board to ride for newbie, it's a little unpredictable when it releases of the wake. Demo it if you can and see for yourself.

I found it to be way too loose and I strongly disliked it. The unpredictability off the wake that people harp on about the Parks kind of surprises me. I haven't really had problems with it but then again I've been boarding a long time. If you're set on a Parks I'd look for an 03-04. While not the best beginner board it is much more stable on the water than the 05.

Nice price, but I agree with Randy and Josh. I've been riding for 10+ years and have one, but went back to my LF Balance. It's a wild ride, but there are many shapes out there that would probably suit your needs better.

It's a pretty agressive shape, but not all that difficult to ride if you aren't a pro. I'm thinking about replacing my 1.1 fins with .7's to loosen up the ride a bit...

Josh is right the 03/04 was a much better board. My son rode the parks in 03 and 04 and loved it, got the 05 & rode it twice and ordered a 3DS.

i rode the parks board in 03 and 04 and loved it as well. when the 05 came out i didnt like it, but that is because it became more sticky. i was riding the 04 finless and when i got on the 05 i didnt like it. it felt more user friendly to me. u can engage a cut easier but it deffinately sits deeper in the water which made it harder to ride. the parks board is deffinately one of the most difficult boards to ride and enjoy.....with that aid i wont tell u u cant ride it if ur a newbie, but i would deffinately recomend trying before u buy. people either love the parks board or hate it. there is no in between and no making uself get used to it and liking it.
