There's the hydro bowl, it's ugly but convenient. I thought that you could ski on some section of the Greater Miami River, south of Dayton. Do they still run hydroplane races there? I think you would have enough space and facilities to support an event at the hydro bowl.

When do you think you will run the event?

I’m working on trying to do something in Columbus. Let me know how it turns out.

My bad you can see Rt. 4 from the bowl. As an added attraction out of town riders can stop and see the near by Air Force Museum. I think that you can only boat on the west bassin.

I contacted the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation department; get your yellow pages out. The Columbus city Parks and Rec has a list of ten marine event planning requirements, they are:

Application submission 1-year to 30-days prior to the event
Pre-event planning meeting
1. Site map
a. Shore sites and activities
b. Water use plan and schedule
2. Parking plan
a. How many contestants
b. Estimate one guest per contestant
c. Estimate 12 event staff
d. Estimate 12 sponsors
e. Assume an average of two persons per car
3. Plans for competition headquarters
4. Restroom facilities, I may need to rent porta johns for the event
5. Plan for trash pickup – Columbus wants the event to provide an additional dumpster(s) and container if the event draws a large crowed.
6. First aid
a. Columbus requires one person on site who is capable of providing emergency care
b. USA Water ski requires an EMT within I think 5 to 10 minute of the site.
7. Course markers – If your going to mark your course, Columbus requires approved marine markers
a. Does the club have markers?
b. Wakesurf event distance is two passes from 800 to 1,500 feet
c. A single pass wakesurf course is from 1,500 to 3,000 feet
d. Not sure about wakeboard course requirements yet
8. Public Liability insurance – You’ll probably need provide $1M of liability insurance for the city for the day of the event. You’ll need to provide proof of insurance for the city.
9. Notification to the public
a. What impact will this event have on the public, use of the lake, boat ramp and so on.
10. Additional dock requirements – don’t think that applies to the bowl.
