well here is the thing, no one is really supposed to know about it. You yourself have to have some sort of friend in the industry to have even heard that name. The only real reason i can come out and say anything about it now is becuase they are releasing their advertisments and print adds tomorrow. It should be the biggest thing to hit wakeboarding since Finn slashed it up in the carlsbad lagoon. The idea behind this company is the beginning of a new sport and will change boats, boards, boots, everything from here on out. I have had the oppurtunity to speak with some of the representatives in the executive department of theses new baords and the ideas and places they are taking this company is unbelievable. Then i got a chance to ride one and really see what it is all about, and i honestly couldn't say enough, i mean those of you who know me know what i have been riding for the past three years and the belief i held in the company and the board i rode, so for me to up and change is a big deal. But i tell you what, these new hover boards are unbelievable, i mean to float over water and allow you to fly through the wir is something i did not see coming. Radar hover decks will definately be the next craze. I myself have already bought my entire family and frieds one, i mean common, a hover board, not only are they the most pop any wakebaord has ever scene, but i can ride behind a jeep to work, skate into clock towers, and take them around town with my auto dry jacket. I can't wait until i get my personal bull dog hover baord in the mail, it will be insane. i hope you all get your own and enjoy the new technology

Those who place the name Radar will realize the possible impact of this. From what I hear all current employees/reps are transitioning over. Randy, Tell us the 'truth'. (I know, I know, I can't handle the truth)

Do a google Search for High Output Sports on google. You'll find they are looking for a system admin. It also says that the company is up and nationaly growing and that they have three retaill stores in Vancouver called "The Boardroom". It is also coincidence that the initials for High Output are H.O. aka Herb Obrien. Hmmmm. Is this something? (Message edited by zride on January 19, 2006)

High Output Sports just happen to be the Canadian distributor for HO/Hyperlite and long time associates of Herb's. As a matter of fact one of the brothers who own it came up with the term we all use today for our favorite sport "wakeboard."

d-law, one of the frasiers have been given credit for coining the term "wakeboard" but I have physical evidence that the term existed in the 60's for a board that was made specifically for riding behind the boat. the act itself was called wakeboarding, straight up, and the board itself was called a wakeboard. So it's kind of funny that people try to take credit for something like that. But whatever.

So does that mean that every single Hyperlite picture won't be from Radar Lake? That's incredible. I have gotten so sick of seeing that stupid lake in every single GD magazine. Over it! Or perhaps another fine marketing ploy by the O'brien family, damn you Herb, you've done it again!

hey big heavy, dude I have personally rode Lake Radar. It is bad ass. I am telling you that there is a reason why that lake is in every mag. Because it is the shizzzzznit! I did it in Feb. with snow on the banks. Almost got hypothermia but well worth the opportunity. I dream of having that exact lake in my backyard one day.

No doubt it is a pretty lake, but I'm just so tired of seeing it. The thing isn't that big so all the pics look the same. I have friends who have ridden it as well and they said it was pretty nice, just a big private lake. Anyhow, I am ranting but I am sick of seeing it.

I actually kinda agree with Stephan. Not a bad lake, but it was refreshing to see the '06 HL shoot was in the florida keys. That was part of what killer "Welcome" for me. I can only take soo much of the same footage.

Dave, I grew up in Toledo Ohio. There’s a lot of fiber glass industry in Toledo with companies like Owens Corning and such. Our neighbor split off from the large companies and opened his own small shop. One thing that he made was fiberglass surfboards with a Cypress Gardens emblem built into the board. Cypress Gardens was using his boards in their water sports shows. My dad bought one of those boards. I line-rode this board behind my dads boat when I was only 8, back in 1968. My dad tried to get my oldest sister to wake surf behind his little 55 HP, 16 foot Startcraft. The boat was too small, feather light, we didn’t use ballast, and we didn’t know what we we’re doing so after a few attempts they gave up. Seeing the picture above I’m guessing that he got the idea from my neighbor and his Cypress Gardens customer. I don’t know if Cypress Gardens used my neighbors surfboard exclusively or not, but the one in the photo looks about the same. My neighbor offered a pretty good warranty, apparently too good. Too many boards came back for repair or replacement and he eventually got out of the board business. Well I don’t know what that photo did for all of you, for me it was a trip back in time.

My son got to ride at Radar last summer with some of the HL guys, he couldn't stop talking about it as the most fun he ever had wakeboarding, yeah it's a small lake and a whole vid of it gets boring I agree. That said, some of the best riding/sliding footage I have seen (Harf's nuke moby dick, sick) has been shot there, and everyone I know that has had a oppertunity to ride it say it's a special place.

Alright, I got the scoop on what's going on. Here is a list of casualties thus far. Herb Obrien Paul Obrien Brian Gardner Chris Sullivan Mike Ferraro Their head Board designer Their head Binding Designer There are only 2 presses left in the factory and the factory is just a warehouse now. HO has turned into a "Warehouse and Marketing Company" (Source withheld for now). Basically what happened was that Herb sold his stake in HO about 2 and a half years to Bob Archer, with a 2 year buyback. When Herb went back in June to buy them back, Bob declined to sell. You can say that a lot of people were upset. So the mass exodus begun. Herb and any employees that left were given an 18 month non-compete. The new company will start up in about 16 months. The company will be called SquareOne. the ski division will be called Radar. A name for the wake division has not been decided yet. Herb has said that when the non-compete ends, he will be getting all of his old HO reps back. Should be an interesting couple years.
