I have an MTX 4244 that will run 60watts X 4 at 2 Ohms.
Tell if I am correct. I can run eight 6.5" 4 ohms speakers, if I run them in paralell pairs. The amp would see a 2 Ohm load coming from each pair of speakers.

Yes. Where do you board in Ga? I'm usually on Lanier.

Lake Tobesofkee in Macon
Lake Oliver and Harding in Columbus (Girlfriend lives there)
Lake Hammond in Panama City, FL (Parent's Private Lake)
I was going to go to Lanier this weekend but I decided to head down to Florida. I have never been to Lanier and would like to check it out sometime.

I sent you a private message with my number, give me a ring sometime if you are up this way. I'll show you some of the secret spots on the north end.

Sounds good, thanks

so would you then get roughly twice the power cos the ohmage load is lower? thus powering all your speakers @ 60 watts?

Sorry to hi jack.. I'm having a similar problem

Small eror. The speaker wire adds resistence to the total! If you do this, your amp wont last very long, and wont have much punch.

Speaker wire should add very little to the overal impedance (resistance). That's why we use good quality speaker wire! If anything the additional speaker wire resistance will help the situation of low resistance of speakers in parallel by bumping up impedance.

Now, another issue of doing this is for most amps the lower the speaker resistance the lower quality (more noise) the sound will have. Good amps will handle lower impedances, but typically an amp rating of 2 ohm load minimum will not play super clean with higher frequencies at that resistance. The amp will also tend to run hotter as well, possibly shortening the life. Just some things to consider.
