thanks for the advice. I contacted GoPro and they are sending me a replacement.
Sent me this reply:
"Great news! I am pleased to inform you that I have gone ahead and set-up the courtesy replacement for the Standard Housing for HERO4. This should be arriving in no time.
This type of case is not covered under the warranty. However, we really want to do something to help you out. That's why we are giving you a one-time courtesy replacement for the Standard Housing for HERO4.
