It was a great time, no doubt. I think I am finally today rested and back on my game. It will be same time next year, plus or minus a week or two. We will announce as soon as we have firm date.
It was all about the surfing, and every evening I got in the pontoon boat and went around the lake to check out everyone surfing. It was great, because everyone was sharing their boat. Its like half the people come with their boat, and half the people don't and don't care because they know they will find a ride. In the evenings there were times I saw various boat owners just walking around stating how much room they had and who wanted a ride. And it didn't matter if they were hot chicks or ugly white folk, they all got a ride. ;-) It was awesome to see. Someone came up to me and said, "this is like the woodstock of wakesurfing". I love that thought.
These are not official pictures, just pictures I took from my phone.
Testing the wake on Friday on the regular boat
Friday at 7pm
Friday at 8pm, getting the boats ready for the event the next morning.
No filters, this is actually how this lake looks at sunset. It really is gorgeous at sunset.
And these are for the VanHemmings. They were rocking that Avy, these are the originals before they were squared and stuff by instagram.
This is one of my favorite moments. We normally do a BBQ on saturday evening after the comp, but I had this idea to hire the local mexican place in Wheatland to do like a taco bar, fresh. It was great, everyone enjoyed. That is Chase Hazen and Cole Kirby, looking to shred some tacos.
Later that night, I tried a sunset panorama on the iphone 5, its not great, but pretty cool.
Great crowd shot.
We had like this paparazzi thing going during the podium, it was a bit bizarre, but fun.
OK, last picture. This was a great moment. We were awarding the Day 1 prize board to one of the amateur winners. There were going to pull name out of a hat, but it was just 2 of them, so I thought, ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS! It was a pretty epic battle.
Can't wait til next year.
The WWS Shred Fest is coming next week in Colorado. Hope to see some of you there!
