Thanks for the heads up. All the other owners of our houseboat are in the Phoenix area. I'm sure they already know about it, but what a bummer. That picture is crazy. Thanks for posting it up.
No problem. I am heading up to a working party in early May. I will send an update on what I see. Also headed up for a week in July. Hopefully it will be fixed by then.
If you are NOT trailing a boat and are traveling in an SUV or higher rise vehicle you can take Copper mine Rd. starting at the Navajo reservation town called GAP on the 89. it will take you all the way to Page. It is a dirt road through the reservation. normally it is pretty rough but i heard they will be grating it smoother for kids from the res to get to school in Page.
For years this route has been debated for paving as it is more direct route anyway... maybe this road cave-in will bring it to light and make it happen.
A little off topic... if anyone wants to put ethanol-Free fuel in their boat. Sunshine fuel in Page i think is the only place. they also have pink (tax free - offroad) diesel
Thanks for the update - I heard the 20 was a more direct route anyway. Just the dirt road part that made it a longer drive. When both are done, it should make the drive better. Just going to take them a long time.
We accidentally took 20 2 years ago due to GM Navigation saying it was the shorter faster route. Seemed like a no brainer until we saw a sign that said paved road ending. Then about a mile later a sign that said "Impassable when wet" Oh and it was drizzling. Then we came to a creek we had to drive through. Did I mention we were in a lowered Yukon with 22s?? Eventually we decided to turn around because it was such a sketchy situation. On the way back out we had cattle running beside the truck. Pretty happy they are paving that bad boy!!!!
