Sick... Did anyone read the little blurb under it where they mention something about this being beaten out for trick of the year by a Rathy grabbed bs 1080? Anyone heard of this one yet? Must be a very fresh post up on thewakeplace...

From thewakeplace.com - paragraph under the video We filmed this 2 weeks ago down in Ft Lauderdale, Steel Lafferty stomping a toeside 1080 wake to wake. It took Steel about 3 days and around 40 attempts to land it, but landed it very smooth and clean. We held back for trick of the year, but Steel was beaten by a wrapped back 1080 from Aaron Rathy. Steel has plans to take this 1080 further, and we will be bringing you more on that and this 1080 sometime this week. Trust us when we say we’re on the verge of something amazing with Steel….

I heard that he is real close on a W2W 12. Obviously what they are referring to in the article. After all that speculating who would have thought it was going to be Steel? Unfortunately picked a bad year to land it for trick of the year..

ok that was awesome........ so it looks like the trend of getting an award is huck your self like mad two weeks prior to the award ceremony and hope no one else had bigger balls lol. WOW this year is crazy....... Rathy, Steel and Fooshee very tuff call on all three for best trick, Rathy is just super aggressive and defiantly the man to beat to date, and if there was a cable categorie; Fooshee all the way, But i think Steel got pimped on trick of the year award. Just my thoughts i can only do a 5 so i have no idea what it takes to do either 1080. Congratulations to all three guys.

I have watched that video 50 times. Man it looks so easy! Really honestly after watching it over and over I cannot believe more people are landing them. So next summer will be the summer of w2w contest 1080???

Yeah but the article said it took "3 days and about 40 attempts". We only get to see the finished product. W2W 12? How long?

It's unreal how clean that was. You hear people say all the time (and I've said it myself in the past) that once you get past a 7 or 9, it's nearly impossible to make it look good because you're just spinning like crazy trying to make it around. That kid pretty much disproved that theory beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Andy, I agree. It worked that way on the 720 and 900. All it takes is one (Rusty) and then it will bust wide open. For the new generation, 1080s will be normal.

Best of all Steel is a very nice kid not cocky at all, like some other pros that were great at a young age. His parents are top notch people as well and it shows in their son. Congrats Steel!!!!!
