I have a 2 1/2 year old D80. I can no longer control the focus points when I switch from Auto-Area mode to Single area mode. I can switch between the modes but the rear curser button doesn't allow me to switch between the focus points.
Seems to me AF point selection is internal to the camera and lens independent but cleaning the contacts certainly is worth a try.
You can control the ability to select different AF points or which ones are selectable on Canon bodies using custom functions perhaps it;s the same on your Nikon and you inadvertently changed your settings? If neither of the above it sounds like your rear cursor control is defective.
I don't think it's the contacts, I cleaned them anyway but still the same result. In Auto Area mode - it selects the AF points but when I switch it to Single Area or Dynamic Area, I can't move them. The rear cursor works fine in all the other uses for it. But when it comes to the AF points... no dice. I don't think it is selectable in a custom functions setting but maybe someone knows.
I'm a big Colt wheelgun fan/collector, unfortunately (fortunately?) I didn't buy them because I ever expected to actually have to use one.
I agree with you on the M4, I have a Lt Recce myself in case of a SHTF scenario, of course I'm stuck with 10 round mags and a bullet button. I built it from parts - loads of fun to shoot and accurate as hell.
Anyhow that's a cool image. I'm assuming you took that after the final volley- since the slides are all back?
