I've been using Absorbers to dry my boat (and trucks/cars) for about ten years, and love them. Need to get some new ones for the season, and was wondering if Sham Wows are as good? ...better?

I would get a couple sham wows and a snuggie or two for when it is cold out.

Just to give my opinion, Yeah I have got to say NO! yeah I have the sham wows and I still have to use another towel to get the water off. So I don't think they work that well.

ha-ha i have all three: the absorber, the sham-wow, and the snuggie! The absorber is by far better than the sham-wow for cleaning your boat. The sham-wow will leave orange fibers all over the place, the absorber sucks up water just as well and leaves no residue. i'd take the absorber everytime for wiping down my bu.

I think we could make something here! We should use a absorber that can be rang out to use as a snuggie afterward. Would be perfect for a cold day on the water.

The sham wow is rediculous. It leaves streaks of water all over a car. Not to mention I think it's to course for a car. It leaves micro-swirls. Couldn't imagine on a dark boat. The absorber is definately where it's at!!!

I think I originally ran across this on WW before, but but I found this and the other dub-overs freakin' hilarious, so figured I would pass on. Not quite safe for work, but not bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_4a4O7kXQo

Michael, the "Absorber" is a brand of synthetic chamois. It absorbs more water than a genuine leather chamois and is pretty handy on a boat. I've used that brand, and other synthetic chamois' for 15 years. My local Wal-Mart carries them. (Message edited by rallyart on March 16, 2009)

Absorber is the best I have tried so far - we use them for everything on the boat. Walmart carries another synthetic chamois called Aquadry which is also pretty good, and a couple of bucks cheaper. The micro-fiber dryers like shamwow don't do as well in my experience. They just kind of smear the water around. Spend the extra few $ and get the real absorber.

in my opinion the sham wow works better as a squeegee (sp?) When water pulls after you wash it works good to move the water off the boat but leaves a little behind in smears. Then i go back and hit it with more absorbant lent free type towels. Shamwows ring out pretty well while others ive used havent. So I usually use a combo for best results. And shamwows dry my dog pretty good and she is like a sponge

That cat now produces the Slap thingy. Love his line "Your gonna love my nuts" LOL!!! Then he tosses another brand chopper behind him and it hit in the sink perfect! LOL!!! He looks like one of those cartoon cats that has been hit by a truck or something.

check these out. http://sevnforty.com/kuvrup.htm They are made for surfing, but I don't see why they wouldn't work for wakeboarding.

The sham wow guy almost got his tounge bit off by a hooker. He punched her in the face several times. Cops came and arrested both of them.
