I got a new wake rope (ronix-Solin Mainline) from AnotherSmokingDeal and was taking the handle off my old rope (just plain spectra rope, no special core or shell) and got to thinking...
If a small piece of rope was put between the connections, would it not be easier to take them apart later? Seems like it would (see pics below) Is there anything bad about this idea?

enlighten me.
OR maybe I will just enlighten you, if this is a good idea.

SECOND QUESTION:

What is the BEST way to put the main line onto the tower/pylon hitch?

Is just looping it on the best? like this (finger = hitch)

I also have a buddy that does it like this. Is this better?

i use the second way better, guarantees that it's not going to come off

double-looping it on the hitch with method one i think would work as good as method two for guaranteeing that it stays on, but i guess i am more curious about which might put more strain/wear and tear on the rope.

Method one (double or single) the hitch passes through the loop
method two the rope passes through itself, in a sense (but transverses the hitch)

maybe i am getting too technical about this, but at the same time it really does matter to me and maybe there is someone else out there who can benefit just as well

I'll just stick to not taking apart my lines

but if you ever have to take apart your handle and line you have two very important lines you don't want to mess up, the handle line and the mainline... guess you could just tie another loop if damage occurs.

justin,
it is not that cold here actually (compared to other places) but i am a wimp, PLUS the boat i typically have available for rides is winterized, and no wet or dry suit

That rope placer is a great idea! I don't see any potential ill effects from it. I use the second method for tower...
