Unfortunately way... First, thank you for believing in us. Thanks for all your support, love and dedication. The Standerd has taken on various hurdles and obstacles since the inception of the publication a few short years ago. Our family of subscribers, advertisers and photographers have ultimately been our backbone of support that has allowed us create seven beautiful books of art. For that, we are forever grateful. Unfortunately, the economic crisis got the best of us. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that The Standerd is closing, and Book 2.3 will be the final edition. Please accept our sincerest apology, as we are unable to fulfill any remaining subscriptions. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, and share your frustration. We only ask for your understanding, considering this global economic dive. The remaining inventory of books, prints and other merchandise will be for sale on StanderdStore.com for a limited time. Again, we sincerely thank you for your support and understanding as we wind-down the business. | The Standerd |

I just got it as well. That sucks, I liked the mag. Kind of a sign of the times. Money is not being spent on advertising like it was in the past.

I don't think they will be the last wakeboard related company to go out. It will be interesting to see how 2 brand new wakeboard companies do in a market like this.

Here;s the email I got. If you want to support them and possibly help go to www.thestanderdstore.com and make some purchases, it may help. Dear Riley Since the beginning, you have played a significant role in The Standerd with your photographic contributions. The lifestyle, culture, and soul in our industry has never been seen in this limelight and we have YOU to thank for it. Hands down, there is no way we could have accomplished seven groundbreaking issues without your support. Your name, reputation, images and loyal photo contributions will never be forgotten...Thank you, thank you, thank you. Very, very sad. It was what I looked forward too every few months as well. The last one was so incredible, this comes unexpected. The lawyer is prob just in case people complain that they paid for a certain number of issues. This is really coming out of nowhere! They had release parties, free subscriptions to the first so many subscribers, posters to buy. Sucky day for all.

my heart has just sunk. I was just thinking about the standerd yesterday, and how amazing it was that josh and joey got this thing up and running. I thought it was even more amazing that they were able to find a niche in the industry that embraced their style with open arms. All I can say is I admire the fact that you (josh and joey) gave it your best shot. Thank you!!

Sucks hate to see them go. They still owe me 3 issues as I just resubscribed. Sucks for everyone but most of all the Standerd.

These are two of the most highly acclaimed photographers in the business.(Joey and Josh) I loved their magazine and the spin from the view of the photographer. I have love for all the mags, but the Standerd brought something different to the table, diversity is awesome!! Our thoughts and support go out to the whole standerd crew (how about a yearly issue?)

Damnit, this sucks. It will still be the best. First wakeboarding pants and now this? I really looked forward to every book, they sit on my coffee table in my lobby. Now what? Back to Bill's mag, but not going to be the same, not even close. Best of luck to the crew, you gave it a shot, no regrets, well done.

I always felt that Alliance Wake or WBM gave off a vibe of the magazine being a joke. The Standerd always felt more serious, the Articles were informative(never happened in the other two mentioned) and the pictures and adds were incredible and inspiring. They always made me want to go out and ride or even to the extent of going out and getting a camera and starting to take my own pictures(even though it never happened). If you've never subscribed to the mag, go out to your local Barnes and Noble or The Standers online store and buy every book you don't own. It's surely worth the money!

I am going to miss the profiles on the OG guys of our sport the most. if you are not in the industry, how are you to know what someone like CC Roberts is doing? I dig seeing the old photos those guys put in there as well.

I never knew the story of CC Roberts. I remember seeing Byerly talking about him in retrospect, but they never said what happened. I agree on the OG aspect as well.

Totally agree. The other mags began to be elementary compared to the Standerd. I don't get how they weren't doing well and Alliance has been alive for years while giving their mag away for free?? All the old photos, stories, unique pictures, and riders unheard of before.

alliance can give their mag away because of the amount of ads they have. same thing goes for WB. the Standerd only had a couple of ads per issue. big difference. it does not help that they did not have a major financial backer in this. sounds like it was just Joey and Josh funding the mag.

...I'll never forget the quality of the photos they took as well as the quality of those they dug up - who can forget the picture of Parks and Randall as groms sharing the limelight at a competition?

Artistic license is something many artist do not like to relinquish. That's commercialism does.
