Ok Hos, here it is. 21:45 ish of Saturday May 2nd. I wanted to get some of the setup, but it was dumping. I wasnt there for sunday but I hurd the crew started throwing down tricks like 3s and maybe 450s over the A-Frame. Sometimes being married with kids has its obligations. Stoked I could be there for Friday and Saturday. BIG PROPS to Al Marchiniak and Brodie Chaboya for making this all possible(also Nick, Tre, the young kids who stood in the rain with me for 3 hours, Cameron, Elliot, and whoever else helped). Growing up trying to skate hallways in schools and the State Capital steps, I never thought I'd see the day when an event like this could go down legally. Its an immense amount of work, politics, and BS with Rangers and Neighbors....but I doubt anyone who's attended will say it wasn't/isn't worth it. DISCLAIMERS: 1) I am not a professional videographer. Obviously. Dont hate. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Even better, grab the camera from me and DO WORK, SON. Love Rob and Big!!! 2) I have everything on here that is even halfway decent. We learn just as much from coming off early and crashes as we do from full-rail slides right? 3) My crappy iMovie 08' doesnt have Slow-Mo and all the new properties that 09' does. I've ordered it, but didn't want to hold the publishing of the video up for its arrival, and I didn't want to import it all back to Final Cut to slow-mo (there were at least 10 items I would slow. a couple of crashes and whoever the ballsy (elsy/lindsey?) girl is who slid the whole a-frame on the skate. 4) Lastly, I left all the sound stock. Mainly because I like the oooos and aaaaas, but the sound gives you a feel for how short of a reaction time you have from the moment the winch starts and your face is on the rail. Enjoy!! God Bless!! P.S. Might want to right-click/save as for speed, and quite a few folks will want to view this today. P.P.S. If you want any of these clips for yourself just PM me.

Ask WAYLONG how slow it was haha. Too bad there wasn't any footage of that. Out of the pool between the railing and the EZ up at about 20mph straight into the fence. Ouch! Hope his hip is okay btw..

ps i prefer a video like this with just raw footage at the right speed. I have a question. I've never ridden behind a winch but it seems like they are going pretty slow, less that 18 mph. Is this my eyes deceiving me or are winches kind of slow?

The winches are highly variable. They'd run it faster for someone who wanted to gap the A-Frame for instance....but slower when a skater was up. Its all driver, and the rider's request. But when ur sliding off the pool deck and you have 30ft to prep for a 14inch ollie onto the rooftop, 18 feels fast. Basically i wanted just enough speed to allow me to ollie.

ahhh true true. Very interesting. I know that when I want to ollie back lip onto a rail, I need the jet ski to be going a little faster but when i just do a normal boardslide the speed isn't as much of an issue. Cool video though, that looks like one of the most fun setups ever. I wish I had big pool like that to make a little rail wonderland (and a crane)

Sony HDR-SR12. Wanted to get the Panasonic camera like Damon has, but Wifie wasn't going for that 'huge' camera. It does the job, the only thing it doesnt have I wish it did....Manual Zoom. The trigger is fairly soft, but still not the same as having zoom on the outer ring like Al's old cam did.

WakeViolator, what are the dates?? They seriously look like the coolest events ever to me. A sick rail in the middle of a pool without having to worry about falling on concrete. I don't care about the prize money, i just am in it for the riding although it would be nice to come home with some drinking money. I have 2 free tickets on southwest and i think they goto cali now, so i might take you up on that.

Just have to say this is one of the sickest events on the west coast that ive been to. Doesnt matter what level of rider you are, if you want to ride you can. Its more of a weekend jam than a contest, and if you want to compete you can. Cool ass riders and Al puts on a great event. Well worth a long drive or flight. The whole atmosphere makes the event epic. Not to mention well built rails, sick riders, and partying it up with some good local riders.

if there is a contest it will take up little time, and there is no requirement to be in it. I think both of these next two events will have a "best trick" contest. The event runs from 9am - 10pm saturday (13 hours) and 9am - 5pm sunday (8 hours) for a total of 21 hours of possible riding for you. if there is a comp it should only take...at most...2 hours.

Nope. You can just pay and freeride the whole time. The contest only makes up a few hours of the weekend. Thats why these events are so dope.
