At 2 years old, my daughter lacks the interest to want to wakeboard. She would rather swim. She is physically able. She even does pull ups regularly on her own on the monkey bars and can crank out about 8 in a row but I wouldn't put her out there yet. She'll just hurt herself if she doesn't want to be out there to begin with. Is your son showing an interest at all in wakeboarding? You may have a kid who wants nothing to do with the water. It happens. My daughter usually tolerates going out on the boat but she'd rather be elsewhere. That being said, if your son shows an interest in watersports in general, I'd start them on a tube. I know. It's a tube but it's easy to learn and the odds of them getting hurt (and therefore discouraged/scared) while tubing is pretty low as long as you drive a reasonable speed, you can ride along with them at first, and you can start them as young as you'd like. Once they are comfortable there, get them up on trainer skis. The only reason I suggest trainer skis is that trainer wakeboards don't really exist as far as I'm aware. For someone that young, look for the horseshoe-shaped trainer. The rope can tie to the skis at first and that sucker pretty much floats on its own. I wouldn't start your kid on a wakeboard until they are comfortable doing deep water starts on training skis while holding onto the handle. The age doesn't really matter as long as they are physically able and wanting to try.
