It's not too common up here in MN. Boat houses like this have to be grandfathered in since now the law is you cant build within 75' of the shoreline.
Keeps it clean and dirt/bug free!

Here is my new dock on Lake Travis outside Austin. I posted a pic of the dock I had on Lake Conroe before I moved to central Texas earlier in this thread. The pics are recent with the lake around 36% of pool or 64% empty.

Hey Wellman, that is a great setup. I haven't really been paying much attention to Lake Travis because I knew that is was dreadfully low. Has it come up at all? Are you even able to get out on it safely?

Here are a couple of additional pics of the attic area and head, hot water showers on the dock.
I still have around 25' of water under my gangway and 40' at the back of the dock and then it drops to 50'-55', At pool it should be around a depth of 100'-110'.

Hey Guys quick question, Do you find your docks needing more maintenance or suffering damage due to larger wakes Etc, Or even dangerous to be on when lots of boat traffic.... Seems to be a lot of false facts and exaggerated miss information, I would love some honest feedback!

We are at the end of a Cove so don’t have big rollers come out way due to boat, just wind mainly.
We did, however, own another property on this same lake and sold it and came back to this house due to rough water. We bought a place and were going to build a new house on the lot but after a few summers of use decided main lake was way to rough for the kids and us to float in and enjoy. Not sure it’s really due to tow boats though, but just boats in general along with wind. Our entire lake pretty much has a wall around it so it’s like a huge bath tub. The areas of the lake with beaches are much calmer than those with walls.
Regardless of what causes the waves, they are destructive to shorelines, but again there are so many factors there is no way I would think anyone can pin it to tow boats.

First pic is 1 year ago. My wife and I rebuilt the whole thing last winter. Still need to do a roof and some finishing touches.

The 12'x16' wood platform is what the house came with and the current 28'x28' dock behind it shortly after delivery. Now it's got a 6k shallow water lift and 24v solar power system with 100w array operating the lift.

Haven’t posted much on here but this was my dock last year, it came with the house. I have a aluminum roll in being built for this spring though. (Can’t wait) it will be 60’ long with a 16’ L shape.
The first pic is just after we moved in, i had it on whips. The second pic is just after I bought my shoremaster 6000lb hydraulic lift.
