Went out this weekend to ride with a couple friends and go about a mile from the launch. Stopped and water was glass. Put her in gear to move a bit closer to shore at idle, and there was a whole lot of not moving. Stripped out the splines in my coupler. Pulled motor last night and picked up a coupler off eBay for cheap (I'm a poor boy, work full time school full time). Glass over stringer on starboard side is cracked in a few spots around motor mount and wood is soft. Port is much better, bolts tighten but not as tight as I'd like. New stringers are not in the budget time or money wise for another year or two if I keep the boat long term. Tentative plan is to glass over the cracks. Then pour resin in the motor mount holes and use longer lag bolts to get into the wood at bottom that feels solid. Anyone ever do anything like this? If I can get another two seasons before doing stringers/floor/etc. I'd be happy.
