Wades pic is legit. The A22 wake is big with plug and play + wedge. With just weight you loose that little lip at the top... Thats probably around 23 mph at 75 or 80 ft.

I agree 100% Everyone that has ridden behind our Axis this summer with full ballast and wedge has said it is the biggest wake they have ever ridden. Don't get me wrong I know there are bigger wakes out there but you can't beat the A22 wake with plug and play + wedge right out of the box IMHO.

axis is a sick boat, but there is no boat on the market that has a huge wake w/ stock ballast. I would much rather fill up 100 sacs than ride w/ 900#s of ballast. lol. everyone is at different skill levels, but the thread is about sac'd out boats.
here is a vlx w/ 2x 750 3x 500 and 1250 stock ballast. in this pic there is an extra 500 on the back seat because there weren't any extra people w/ us that day. Just ryan and me. And the off 180 is me at 25mph at 90ft. same vlx

sick sequence.
"there is no boat on the market that has a huge wake w/ stock ballast."
false. Epic 23V really is huge with stock ballast. Its 4000 lbs. I can honestly say that Epic with stock ballast full and a few people is at least tied with the biggest wakes Ive ever ridden.

The Axis wakes we are talking about in this thread are with the plug and play system which is 2700lbs of ballast not 900. You can swap the 400s in the back out for 750s and be sitting on 3400lbs of ballast plus wedge and not a bit of it is laying in the boat.

Yeah all that to skate. What wakeskaters can't have a nice big wake? Evan and Dustin were getting a set in the night before the tige Pro Am. The comp boat sucked for the prelims but they did get it dialed the next day. Sorry, pictures are bad.

I sure didn't get that all on my own!!
Just like a board, it's a combination of the equipment, wake & technique. I just happened to get all of that one at the time. I'm certainly not consistent at it, but manage to hook it all up occasionally.

The best comparison I can make is when your jumping a dirt bike or mt bike. If your up off the seat, use your legs, then it goes well. If not, it can be a rough landing. You can't really get off the seat because of the belt, but you can land a bit nose heavy & sort of scoop in on the landings. The foil itself is 38" long, so you have some time to slow it down as the wings hit the water... til the board hits.
Plus the seats have some suspension in them. The Evolution seat I use has about 1" of travel. The older Shock Towers were heavier but have like 4" of travel. Plus you have a 2" thick pad on the seat.
I had a bulging disc in L5 S1 years ago & riding SkySki doesn't aggravate it very much at all. Obviously if my back is bothering me, I'm not out there pushing it though.
Getting that high is a rush, for sure! When you have so much time in the air that you can see stuff on the floor of the boat, hear people nearby saying, "HOLY *^%#@!", then finally land it.... well it's tough to beat that feeling. The really good rider count the height in frames.... like how many video frames in a video of the trick. I think the highest is like 62 frames..... at 30 frames/second thats over 2 seconds in the air!
If anyone is ever interested in trying it out sometime, drop me a line. I have a few connections & might be able to hook you up with someone in your area. Getting out with someone who is already riding is a great way to speed up the learning curve. A couple of guys I coached a bit on their riding in the last year or so (and are WW members) & are landing inverts already.

cjh1669, for wakeboarding we had stock ballast (1075 lbs), plus an additional 750 lbs on each side of the engine, 450 on the floor in the back, 700 in the front walkway/bow, and then an 1100 lb bow triangle. We also had 4 adults in there. We were riding at 27 mph, and 85 ft.
I haven't surfed that boat yet, so Casey will have to fill you in on that.

Here's about 1K in my 09 V-Ride...Bill K helped get my wake rolls dialed in. The board has always been a lot of fun, but at 43 with a lot of hard miles on the body my knees really like the sky ski.
