I've decided I'm going to get a GB Gonzalez, but they only make a 138 and a 142. Right now I ride a 140. I'm about 5'11" and weigh about 145, and I was wondering if a 142 would be too big for me? I'm pretty sure that the 138 will be too small.
Also, if anybody out there rides a Gonzalez I'd appreciate some more information about how it rides.
If you're thinking that the 138 will be too small, go with the 142. I haven't ridden the Gonzalez; however, I don't think you will notice the two inch difference as much versus your current board by going with a larger one. Downsizing will be more noticeable IMO.
Not being rude, just correcting you Andre "2 centimeters".
I have rode the 142 Gonzales.
I think it rides alot like a contenuouse rocker board. Its really smooth and fast. However it still is a 3-stage, so it gives of a really great lift off the wake. I rode it with and with out the center fin and decided I lioke it better with the center fin still in. Also it is a pretty light weight board. Defenitly an awesome board and you won't be sorry about picking one up.
Danny, just correcting you, it's "continuous", and "definitely"
Anyways, to the original question,I am no "expert", but why do you say a 138 will be too small for you? I'm 5'11, 168-170lbs and I ride a 138 with no problem
I would do the 138 and I outsize you nearly about 35lbs... and am about 5'10"... I like the ride of a smaller board, I used to ride a 140 and dropped to a 138 instead of goen to a 142, I like it alot, I guess the landings could be softer on the 142 but I love the 38
Michael, you wont notice a 2 cm difference unless you are super good. And if you are super good, you will adapt to it and get used to the legnth and the extra swing weight. Im 5'6'' 135 and ride a 137 Subjekt. And I moved up to the from a Trip 128 and Subjekt 132. You'll be fine either way you go. 138 or 142. Think of your knees when you make your decision though. Good luck and hope you enjoy your new ride.
